The sound of scratching was vividly heard.

"Jinx", Eve groaned. "Stop you pest".

The black cat sat beside Eve on the floor, licking her hair. She lifted up her hand, patting his soft head. He gave off a soft murp, catching her thumb in his mouth. Eve giggled a bit before she propped herself up with her arm, her eyes wandering around the room for her clock.

A quarter to eight, thought Eve as she eyed the clock, forcing herself to stand up. Her legs wobbled a bit as she walked over to her closet, searching for what else she would be wearing. Her eyes picked out a white button up that went along with a plaid skirt, black tights to go with it.

A sigh escaped her lips as she slipped off Tom's sweater, laying in gently on her chair before she grabbed her clothes for the day, closing the door behind her as she walked towards the bathroom, making sure to lock the door.

"Good morning Eve", Cordelia greeted as she spotted Eve in the kitchen. No response followed, as Eve hadn't spoken to her mother after the fight.

"Won't you greet back your mother?" Alastair asked as he flipped a page of his newspaper. Eve shot a cold stare to him before she sat down across from him, staring at the steam that left from her tea.

"She'll talk soon", Cordelia said. "Hopefully".

Eve shifted a bit in her seat as she lifted her spoon, shaking in two small spoons of sugar into the hot drink. The only sound that accompanied this was cutlery clinking against the porcelain.

"It's Tom's birthday today", Cordelia began. "Are you two planning on doi-".

Eve shot her glare, causing her mother to keep herself silent once more.

"Alastair and I are going out", Cordelia said. "To an ice skating rink, would you like to come?". She stared at Eve, feeling dissatisfied as she saw her daughter shake her head.

"She can just stay here and perhaps watch over the house", Alastair said. "It's obvious that she'd rather be alone".

"It's just - It would be nice if you came along, you know, family".

Eve remained silent as she chewed slowly on her toast, staring at her mother before she sat down.

"We will talk once Alastair and I return later this evening, okay?". Cordelia stared at her daughter, who just shot her another wry stare.

Tom trudged through the snow that was gently falling as he chased up the hill that led to the Noir Estate.

It was his 18th birthday and he had one thing on his mind - Eve.

He sharply exhaled as he looked up, seeing the estate slowly appear through the thick fog. His breath came out in thick smoke, his eyes watering as the sharp air hit his eyes. The gravel beneath gave a satisfying crunch as he began to near the porch, walking up the stone steps. As lifted up his fist, he deeply sighed before he knocked a few times, the snow falling softly as he heard the door open.

"Hel- Tom", Eve said softly as she opened the door a bit more. Tom entered the house, the heat of the interior immediately engulfing him.

"Hello Noir", he greeted. "How's my ring?".

Eve twisted his finger around her finger, staring up at him. "It's great, Riddle. Happy birthday by the way".

He whipped his head to stare at her as he removed his coat and shoes, leaving them in the foyer.

"Thank you Eve", he muttered darkly. He leaned down, his arms snaking around her waist as he pulled her towards him, softly kissing her lips.

"I've missed you", he whispered. "Very much".
