(fluff, angst)

Everything flew by in a blur. The trees, the cars, the lines on the road. I looked over to Lance who was driving us far away from everyone, away from a life full of hell.

We grew up knowing that what we were was a sin, that God hates us because of what we were doing. But that didn't stop us from packing our things and driving off.

It was only a matter of time before our families knew that we were gone. Would they come looking for us? Would they go to the police to find out where we went? Something deep inside of me knew that it was a lie. They wouldn't worry, they knew why we left.

A part of me, however, wanted to tell Lance to turn around. We would go back and live life in secret or live with our hands held tightly onto one another's. But then again, wouldn't they kick us out anyway?

We passed another car, its lights shining in the mirrors and into my eyes. I grunted and shielded the light. I felt something grab my other hand. It was warm and comforting, making everything in the world seem OK for once. I turned my head to find Lance's smiling as he drove. I grabbed his hand back and smiled alongside him.

God was against us from here on out. He was looking down at us with a sorrowful look and would test us constantly for our belief. Lance and I agreed that we would still keep our faith, even if God didn't believe in us. We grew up with God by our side, and we decided to forever be by his, together.

We had rented a hotel not too far away. The plan was set in motion a while back so everything would be set by the time we officially left. We were going to move out of state, the apartment we're renting had a wonderful woman named Allura who would be our landlord. She was supportive of us after we told her what was going on. Lance said that we should be living with a landlord we didn't have to hide anything from.

The only problem with the apartment was that it was almost a 12-hour drive away. Since we left during the night we stayed at the hotel for Lance to get some rest before we continued to move.

The car wasn't as packed as you would think; having three suitcases each. We didn't trust our stuff to stay in the car, so for a one night stay and having six bags in total it looked a little suspicious. But the lady at the desk didn't ask us anything and handed us our room key.

Bringing the bags to our room was a struggle but we managed. As Lance flopped on the bed a blush covered my face. It felt like we were officially a couple. There was only one bed, and even though we've shared one before, this felt different.

We ordered a room with one bed, knowing full well that we would be sharing it. We got ready for bed and laid down on the fluffy mattress. Just as I got underneath the sheets I felt an arm wrap around my waist. I giggled and turned to face the love of my life, who was laughing as well.

He pulled me close and I cuddled into him. Everything felt right for once. This feeling of safety, the feeling that everything was alright, it was all because of him. We fell asleep like this, cuddled against one another with the feeling of happiness all around.

The next morning after a hotel breakfast we were on the road again. It was the first time I had looked at my phone in a while, and the messages were skyrocketing.

Where are you
You better not be with that boy
Come home this instant
Just wait till Shiro hears about this!

Shiro was the one who put me in with my foster family. He was the one who would check-up every month to see how things were. Things weren't bad. The family was nice, gave me everything I needed, but their beliefs were getting in the way of everything.
