(Angst?)

“Allea! Allea, sweetie, everything’s going to be OK! I’ve got you! It’s OK!”

The castle’s walls were barely standing, the weapons system was still shot down, and the galra were on board. The message was very clear, ‘give us the girl’. Lance ran as fast as he could to the safety room, where only Lance and Keith were allowed to access. Allea cried in her father’s arms, squeezing as tight as she could so she wouldn’t lose him. She didn’t know where her mother was, only that he was outside of the ship.

“Is mommy going to be OK?” Allea cried.

Lance held his daughter closer as the door opened up, “Your mother is very, very strong Allea. Of course he’ll be OK.”

Lance wasn’t sure if he was really telling Allea that or himself, but it help nonetheless. Without putting Allea down, Lance locked the door and turned the lights on in the room. It was similar to what Lance’s room was suppose to look like before Keith moved in, so it was quite comforting. Allea kept her death grip on her father, the ends of her short hair glowing slightly. As soon as Allea was put down the castle shook, Allea going right back up into her father’s arms.

“Daddy?”

The castle shook again, harder than before. Lance rushed over to the soft bed, placing Allea down under the covers and tucking himself in them to. Allea’s head was covered while Lance kept his head out of the blanket in case of an attack. It was better if Allea couldn’t see any of what’s going on. Lance played with his daughter’s hair, his fingers stinging ever so lightly as the tips grew brighter. But Lance continued to play with the hair, silently hoping that the love of his life was OK; and Keith was doing the same thing.

Keith prayed that Lance and Allea were in the safety room, begging anything that was up there that they were OK. What could the galra want from Allea? His daughter, his family, that’s who they were messing with. Allea was with them now, and no matter how mad or horrible this got, Allea wasn’t going anywhere outside of the castle. She belonged with them, as stupid as Keith thought fate was, this was fate. Something brought Lance and Keith together. Something brought Voltron to that ship. Something brought Allea to them. Whatever that something was, Keith was thankful for it through and through.

So what thing was trying to take his family away? What thing was so horrible to take everything Keith has? Keith gripped the bars on the red lion and took a deep breath. If something wanted to take away his child, they’d pry it from his cold dead hands. The same hands that have the blood of the enemy running through them. The same blood as the ones knocking on the safety room door.

Allea curled into her father’s side, keeping her breathing low and quiet like Lance had told her to. Lance made sure to keep his daughter’s head under the blanket, his bayard out and activated incase the door gave out. As far as they knew, the barrier was probably down and the galra were inside the castle right outside of the door.

The thought came to him a couple of times. What if it was one of the others and they were trying to come in for a breather before going back out? What if they were hurt? Lance could hear his best friends shouting from ways away, zaps and shots echoing through the halls and to the room. What ever was outside of that door, it was not part of Voltron.

The pounding stopped and orders were shouted. Muffled voices and footsteps were heard walking away from the door, but Lance knew better. Within five minutes of complete silence the pounding started again, this time heavier and louder than before. A crack rang through the room, meaning that the door was about to give out.

More pounding rang through Keith’s ears as he ran through the castle. The galra ship was beginning to retreat, but orders were shouted that the galra that were on the ship were to remain on board till they got the girl. Keith sliced his way to the safety room were he knew his family was, and where is family should be safe. In a few moments Keith would have his arms wrapped around his child, his body being wrapped around by the love of his life. Everything would go back to normal once these few hard moments passed. From down the hall a bright glow of orange burst through the normal blue, gray glow of the lights. Keith knew that glow all to well, running faster and faster to his should be safe family. His little girl’s screams were ringing through his ears at a high pitch, his lovers yells were bouncing off of the walls and raming Keith’s head back and forth till Keith finally made it passed the horrible moments. The moments filled with screams, with orders. Filled with nothing but the thought of running faster and faster till Keith made it around the next corner.
