They told each other every day. Even if it wasn't said directly.

Lin barged into their shared dressing room, phone in hand.

"Groffsauce! Groffy!" Groff poked his head out of the beaded curtain. He smiled wide, walking through, taking Lin by the waist and kissing him hard. So what if it'd only been ten minutes? He missed him.

"What's up, dear?" he asked, stroking his cheek. Lin's eyes crinkled from smiling as he held out his phone.

"Look! I made us a playlist on Spotify!!" Jonathan promptly took the phone, scrolling through, checking out all the songs.

"Doesn't Sweater Weather only work for you though?"

"Oh yeah I guess that's true but it's still good!"

"Definitely. Okay let's see....." Lin walked behind him, wrapping his hands around his waist, chin on his shoulder to watch him scroll. "Uh, who's Ricky Montgomery? There's a lot of his songs on here....."

"He's amazing, you'll see. He's an Indie artist."

"Oh okay that makes sense."

Jonathan biked through the park on the way to rehearsals. He stopped for a second to have a drink of water when his phone vibrated. He pulled it out.

MyLove : On your way?

Groffbun : yup! i'll be there soon :)

MyLove : <3

As he was putting his phone and water bottle in his backpack, he noticed a small pebble next to the bench he'd stopped at.

He picked it up.

When he got to the Richard Rogers, he ran into their dressing room.

"Lin!" Lin's head shot up.

"Groff! Hi love, how are you?" Jon pulled out the pebble.

"I got you a rock." Lin examined the rock, touched and fascinated.

"What made you think of this?"

"It reminded me of you."

"How so?" Lin tilted his head, fondly. Groff shrugged.

"Because it's small," he pointed to the rock, "you're small," pointing to him, "and you're both soft."

"Jon, rocks are hard."

"I meant soft like smooth." Lin ducked his head to the side, unsure of how to respond. He wasn't sure why that description got to him enough for him to flush but it did. To be fair it was Jonathan saying it. Of course. He decided to bury his face in Jon's chest and hold him tight. That was always a decent choice.

Lin smiled devilishly, standing up, sneaking over to the beaded curtain, as quietly as possible. He could hear Groff humming something- probably a song from their playlist- and he got ready.

Making sure Groff couldn't tell he was there, he bursted through the curtain.

"Hello hello hello," he giggled. Groff turned around, wide-eyed with a hand over his chest.

"Jesus fucking christ babe! You almost gave me a heart attack." The chide wasn't as genuine as it could've been, seeing as he couldn't stop laughing. It was impossible to do so when Lin was giggling so furiously. The amount of light emanating from him was always overwhelming but when he laughed.... there was nothing you could do if not laugh with him. "What's up?"
