They always did their best to make the other man smile.

Jon groaned, guarding his eyes from the blinding sun with the back of his hand. He arched his back, patting the other side of the bed. Finding it empty, he cracked an eye open, finding himself alone in the room.

Lin must be working.

He briefly considered going back to sleep before the door creaked open, Lin's head poking out.

"You awake honey?" he asked in hushed tones. Groff smiled lazily at him, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He hummed in response. Lifting his head up, scents of bacon and eggs wafted into the room. He nearly salivated on the spot.

"You made breakfast?"

"Why don't you come out and see?"

"Alright, alright I'm coming, hold on." He heard faint chuckles ringing from the kitchen as he slid out from under the sheets.

By the time he made it out of the bedroom, clad in a baggy tee shirt and plaid pajama pants, Lin was sitting on the counter, legs swinging back and forth.

"Lin, that's gross, people eat off that counter you know." Lin turned to look at him, smirking, quirking an eyebrow.

"That wasn't what you said last-"

"That's not what I- shut up, jesus christ!"

Lin snorted, jumping off the counter, walking over to Jon. When they got close enough, he surprised Groff by wrapping his arms around his torso, burying his head in his chest.

"You okay?" Jon asked tentatively, cradling his head.

"Yeah. Just wanted a hug," he mumbled, grinning wide. Jon rested his cheek against Lin's, sighing deeply. Lin squeezed, making happy noises and Jon's lips twitched into a small smile.

The two were lounging on the couch, surfing through random channels. There wasn't much to do during quarantine. Looking around, Jon spotted something on a shelf.

"We have nail polish?" he muttered into Lin's neck.

"Oh yeah, I got that a couple weeks ago."

"Can I paint your nails?"

"Really?" Lin lifted his head to look him in the eye, excitement bubbling up.

"Yeah," Jon got up off of Lin, making his way to the shelf. He took it down, "You only have black?"

"Yep. I like black nail polish."

"Fair," he shrugged. They sat down at the table and Lin splayed his hands out. Jon uncapped the bottle, taking Lin's right hand in his own.

Lin watched Groff's face fondly as he focused on getting each nail perfect. When he was done with the right hand he gave it a light squeeze, moving on to the left.

There was something about the situation that seemed so intimate to Lin. His heart was racing at the idea.

When he finished the left hand he lifted it by the palm, kissing his knuckles, keeping eye contact. Lin felt butterflies flutter in his stomach and smiled lovingly.
