shut up and dance

Some lamp lights scattered around the old bar were the main reason anyone could even see on this lively of a night. Tables were pushed aside, many people (the majority from the cast) filling the dance floor.

Jon, Jon had stayed off to the side, sipping a martini, elbow leaning on the table. He felt giggily, light.

He brought his other elbow back, leaning back into the counter, eyes landing on the one and only, moving around the dance floor. Chatting, jumpy, smiling that adorable wide grin with his rolled up sleeves.

Lin turned his head and Jon looked down, blushing after a prolonged span of eye contact. He felt like he was being stared down, in a good way. In an exciting way.

He knew Lin hadn't looked away. He took a sip of his martini, eyes jumping when he saw the pair of shoes moving towards him.

Lin took the drink out of his hand, placing it on the counter, his other hand running down his arm. Jon's skin prickled as fingers caressed his cheek, turning him to face him.

"Do me the honor," Lin asked, right hand reaching his wrist, bringing his knuckles up to kiss.

Jon tilted his head, eyes crinkling, "Are you asking for a dance?"

"Please?" His eyes were hopeful, pulled wide, a little grin tilting the corners of his lips.

"Uh...." he stammered, heat rising in his chest, "I don't really know what to......"

"Here," Lin brought him in by the waist, linking their hands. "Follow me," he led them both to an open space on the dance floor and Jon did his best, following the movements of his feet, twirling him around.

It really didn't take too long to get the hang of it, it's not like he'd never taken dance before. The beat was quick and he was having a great time. Watching Lin dance really was a wonder, especially up close. The facial expressions too. The little smiles that gave you butterflies.

Eventually a couple of their friends were watching, started filming and cooing at how cute they were together, how fitting. Jonathan looked around, a bit flushed, feeling exposed. It was pretty distracting and his hands were sweaty when-

"Hey," Lin tilted his head to face him, a soft, sweet smile on his lips, "don't worry about them." He brushed a thumb over his cheek bones, "Eyes on me."

"Okay," he mumbled, though his enthusiasm was a bit dismal, steps half-assed.

"You're holding back, darling," Lin teased, and damn was it hard not to react when you weren't allowed to look away.

"Shut up," he squeezed Lin in the ribs, earning a small yelp, unheard by anyone around them.

That look in his eye, that competitive one came about as Lin said, "So you can't do any better?"

Jon gasped dramatically, knowing a challenge when he heard one, "Oh i can."

He twirled Lin around, catching him by the waist to dip him and leaned down over him. When he pulled him up, their chests were nearly glued together and Lin laughed into his shoulder.

"God I don't think I've ever been dipped before."

"Well how was it?" he chuckled back.

"Dizzying. Like I was falling but you caught me."

"Well," Jon froze, "that is literally what happened," he cocked an eyebrow.

Lin slapped the side of his shoulder, "I know, I know, smart one."

The music switched to a slow song. By now, most people had decided to leave them be. They weren't even really dancing at this point. Mainly caught in an embrace, swinging side to side.

Jon smiled, kissing Lin's hairline who let out an exhausted sigh, kissing him on the shoulder. Really the farthest he could reach in this moment, if only the show an ounce of his love for his Groffsauce.
