Harry has been moody all evening, everyone has noticed it but nobody has asked, just in case he does not want to talk about it just yet.
It is bonding time with his little girl, and Niall has brought her over this time around, because Zayn faced a little delay at the office and could not make it. Although he did not really want Niall to spend the evening with him, he is learning to accept that the Irish man will always be around his sister and her family, for reasons he doesn't want to understand.
"Okay Papa, read to me please," Myra softly speaks, settling next to her long father and putting a colourful book on her legs.
At her age, she is yet to know how to read but she always wants either him, Uncle Niall or Nana Anne to read to her, especially Uncle Niall since he is very good in funny voices.
Harry slowly sits up, blinking and staring at the bright coloured cover. "O-Okay, okay darling...okay...okay, H-Harry read t-t-to his angel hmn,"
"I can help you with the funny animal sounds, you know she loves that a lot," Niall kindly offers, giving a smile and hoping it works.
"H-H-Harry knows! Harry...Harry knows his Myra...m-more...more than Niall, please!" he softly snaps at Niall and blinks, realising how harsh he just sound.
Niall slowly raises his hands in defeat, shifting back a bit and not wanting to annoy him any further. He stands up and decides to walk over to the kitchen, giving the father and daughter some space, and time. It is clear that he is beginning to try too hard in winning a space in Harry's heart, and that is probably beginning to come off as irritating.
Harry stays silent and gently pokes the cover of the book. "Read...read...read for Myra, yes read...read please."
"Okay Papa! We are reading a book! A pretty book, and...and it has colours and kittens!" the little girl pipes in excitement, and he gives a weak groan, trying to understand why she is happy and maybe he can feel the same way too.
"New...new book from...from teacher? It so...so colourful...and bright," he nervously speaks, remembering how his sight jumbles at too many colours. "Oh pretty...pretty book, we read now,"
Myra gently hands him the book, smiling at him and admiring his effort. There is not much she knows about his condition or his character, but the instilled love for him just causes her to appreciate every gesture he makes, no matter how little or big.
He collects the book and slowly blinks away the sharpness of the bright red colour from one of the painted kittens, he slowly flips it open and holds close to his side. Her tiny frame curls up next to him and she smiles at the book.
"Eh...it...it is about kittens that...that are st-st-stubborn," he groans in little frustration, and deepens his furrowed brows. "Very...very stubborn and Mumma...mumma cat was upset...upset."
"Cute!" Myra exclaims in excitement and giggles, staring up at her father and watching him struggle to adjust to the sharp colours.
The reading continues with Harry managing to control his stutter, and also attempting to sound animated, but he is not used to those kind of actions. All he does is read and leave the book to the little one to admire the photos, usually the books have cooler colours and he can focus on the dullest one but this particular one is a hue of red, orange and a bright yellow, causing him to repeatedly blink. Harry goes on to ask about her day and decides to try a proper interactive session with his daughter.
Deep down he knows as a father he is supposed to be most present person in her life, just like how his own father tried with him when he was growing up. He was never close with his father or any male relative, because the females seemed to participate more and never backed down when he always pushed them away.
