A/N- Iman is pregnant with the twins here.
"Louis, I am so sorry."
Those words replay in his head over and over again. He saw this coming. Everyone expected this, but the feeling is sharply different when it actually hits you. He shifts his foot on the floor, staring at it as if it is about to open and swallow him in. He watches his sisters break down in arms of sympathisers, and he understands this is their reality.
He walks down the hallway, away from his family. Away from their skin peeling sobs, and consoling words. He walks into Iman's waiting arms. She holds him extremely close, almost pushing her bump into him and just holding him close. Iman's hands shake and she breaks down in tears, being here before and understanding how shattering it feels.
"I am so sorry Louis," she whispers through her tears.
Zayn places a hand on his back, giving him a gentle pat and saying nothing. Sometimes words are just not needed. He watches Louis fight his emotions, and watches how he is struggling to even breathe. It is hard to watch. Louis pulls away from Iman, wiping her tears with his palms and forcing a smile her way.
"She's in a better place," he struggles to say.
"I know," Iman sniffs, nodding through her emotions.
"You're due anytime soon, just go home," Louis mumbles.
"Don't make this about me. I am fine," Iman shakes her head.
Louis nods in understanding and rests his back against the world. He can feel everything spinning around him, but the urge to appear okay is just there. He hears a blood boiling scream down the hall, he knows it very well, and he just shuts his eyes. Lottie bursts out of the private ward, and dashes into the waiting arms of someone there to console her.
"Mate, you need to leave here," Zayn tells him.
"I can't," Louis opens his eyes.
Tears roll down his cheeks.
"Zayn is right. These emotions are too much for you," Iman agrees.
"I am trying to understand what's happening," Louis sighs.
Aidan walks down the hallway, holding a freshly bought doughnut and iced tea he got from the cafeteria. He is a bit relaxed. Oblivious to what has happened. He walks over to Louis, stretching out the doughnut to him and focusing his eyes on the floors.
"For...For Lou," he wrinkles his nose at the sharp hospital scent.
Iman is about to reach out to Aidan, but Zayn cups her shoulders, stopping her. She stares at Aidan, knowing he might not understand what is happening, except it is explicitly broken down to him. He doesn't read facial expressions, and doesn't get certain expressions. He frowns, and looks up at Louis, wondering why he hasn't taken the snack.
"I'm not hungry," Louis mumbles.
"Why?" Aidan asks.
"Just not hungry," Louis shrugs.
"Aidan, maybe not now," Iman takes a step closer to him.
"Lou-Lou.... hungry, no?" Aidan tries to express.
"No. He cannot eat anything right now," she tells him.
"Why?" Aidan shrugs. "Jay?"
Iman takes a deep breath, fights her tears and looks at him.
"Aidan, Jay is no more here," she croaks.
"Okay, is...is where?" he frowns.
"Listen Aidan, she's dead." Zayn replies.
