Scroll down if you're here for only Iman and Harry. This is a whole flashback chapter. Read the first half of Chapter 28 to understand this first scene, thank you for reading.
Liam calmly reads by the window and Aidan buries his head into a mathematics textbook that's been placed on his favourite table in the library. He loves to solve equations for fun.
There are only a few things that have been able to grab his attention and maintain that hold. One of them is that man he recently met through Liam.
This is his second time meeting him and he just knows that they won't be friends. They're a little too alike and he doesn't like that. He's also neurotypical and that hardly works out because people aren't that understanding of him.
Liam's friends have been kind, especially Harry and Iman. They've invited him to join their comic club and he's been staying updated in the group chat. Even though he doesn't say much. In fact, he doesn't reply to the messages. He just likes being a part of something.
Harry is almost like him, a little bit more mature and speaks better. That makes him a tad jealous but he is hopeful to get better with his own speech.
Iman is very pretty and kind, she smiles all the time and can be really shady in the group chat. That feels very relatable to him. Unlike Harry, he's a little bit more in tune with memes and a few internet jokes.
Aidan groans to himself and presses Mory closer to his chest as he blinks at the nearly completed textbook. Someone threatened to bite his dearest plush elephant into pieces and he's not sure if that was meant to be lighthearted.
He sighs, his loose curls curtaining his face and he turns to poke Liam's arm.
"Use your words, mate," Liam hums, focused on his book as he prepares for his exams.
"Leeyum...," he mutters, painfully shy.
Liam notices there's something different from the mood they walked in with and he instantly moves closer.
"Are you okay? Do you need something?" Liam asks, concerned.
Aidan practically squeaks and recoils from him. He raises his Mory like a cross against a vampire and starts looking everywhere but at Liam.
Normally, he's great with eye contact but he's very shy right now. Also, it's so weird having someone be so kind and friendly with him. He doesn't have a lot of friends.
Lots of lads his age mate are extremely social beings and super masculine. For some reason, he's never that much of a masculine man. There's no box to put him in. He loves his bright nail polish and football games with his sister.
Some guys have made fun of him and his own brother avoids spending time with him. So having a full on "manly" man like Liam willingly be his social buddy means a lot to him and he's trying to fully trust this friendship.
"S-Space!" Aidan calls out, frowning at Liam.
"Are you going to attack me with Mory?" Liam rolls his eyes.
"If rude, yes," Aidan replies with a little shrug.
"Fine. What do you want?" Liam chuckles and settles down next to him.
Aidan holds onto Mory and looks around, making sure they're alone. Liam notices this and fights himself from laughing.
"Is this about Louis? He's not going to touch Mory," he explains.
There's a little uncomfortable feeling in his chest whenever he remembers Louis. He clears his throat and looks at Liam with unsure eyes.
"Friend....to you?" Aidan asks.
