When Louis returns to the cottage he shares with his partner, the sighting waiting for him floors him and he repeatedly blinks to be sure he's at the right house.
He lightly tosses his keys into the waiting ceramic bowl at the foyer and shrugs off his heavy coat with a little frown. He hasn't been noticed yet.
This means he can gather a few seconds to himself and properly plan how to react to what's happening.
It was supposed to be a quick trip to the massive local Sainsburys in town and he returns to see his plans have been thwarted and thrown out of the window.
Seeing as both men were apart on Valentine's day, he had a surprise planned for his partner but it looks like that's not happening this evening. He holds onto the recyclable grocery bag containing various items and he slowly walks into the living space.
Right there, Aidan is carrying Neesa on his left hip and repeatedly reaching to push her fussy curls away from her face. It's a rare moment but after the evening they spent watching the Styles girls, these two have grown weirdly attached to each other.
Neesa happily pats Aidan's cheek and even though that amount of touch can throw him off, he manages to smile and kiss her head.
Louis cannot deny how adorable this looks but he has a plan that must be successful. He holds up the bag containing the items and loudly clears his throat.
Aidan widens his eyes in realisation and spins to stare at his partner. His own curls gently bouncing in reaction.
"Hi to - Hi to Lou-lou!" he quickly says, loud enough.
"What's going on here?" Louis frowns a little.
Aidan holds up Neesa and stretches her forward to Louis. Like he's presenting her to be admired and noticed.
"Friend...fr-friend is h-here," he manages to say.
"I can see that but why is that?" Louis smiles at the adorable child and kisses her cheek. He cannot fight the cuteness.
"Oh!" Aidan pauses.
It's true what they say. The words are harder and heavier when you've attempted to bamboozle your loved one.
He lightly bounces on his toes as he thinks hard on how to articulate his sentence without making Louis stop his fun.
Gently, he brings Neesa closer and she babbles in joy. Louis calmly watches his partner gather his thoughts and quickly widens his eyes.
"Give me an actual answer," he says, knowing the man he loves very well.
"Ah!" Aidan squeaks, feeling called out.
"Yes, I know you too well. You'll skip the answer and change the topic, you're not sleek, pretty boy," Louis points out.
Aidan frowns at how accurate he happens to be and he suddenly takes offence.
"Oh....ruuuuude," he says.
"Yeah whatever," Louis rolls his eyes. "Answer me."
"Friend!" Aidan holds up Neesa again. "....is h-here."
"How did she, your friend, get here?" Louis asks.
"Oh...H-H-Harry," he replies with a giggle.
Louis groans and exhales. He knows Aidan basically has Harry and Iman wrapped around his finger.
They just refuse to say no to him. It's endearing and annoying at the same time.He just wonders what time Aidan decided to have his little friend over and how fast they were able to drop her on his trip to town for groceries.
"Did you call them to bring her here?" Louis asks.
