When Marvin woke up, he had lost all sense of time. An headache split his head from the inside. It felt as if somebody had cleaved his skull with an axe. The blood rushing through his body pulsated against his cranial bones with every heartbeat, eager to break them apart.
He carefully rolled himself sideways into a safe position, just in case he'd pass out again.
»Leigheas.« He much rather would have spoken a full healing spell, but his throat was so dry that he was surprised he could even utter a single word.He felt the golden light wash over him like a calm wave. The headache waned, but a good portion of it persistently dug it's claws into his head, refusing to leave.
At least it subsided enough for him to get up. This must have been the most exhausting and perhaps the most difficult one spell he had ever pulled off. Teleporting two people out of a collapsing world while simultaneously stopping another being from going through... He usually wasn't the person for self praise, but he did pull that off pretty well. The green haired mage pulled the cork off a bottle and made a face, holding it away from his nose. He inhaled, held his breath, and gulped down the contents.
The liquid was sharp, burned and tasted way too bitter. By the gods, how much he hated potions. Alchemy in general, really. Way too close to science for his taste.
At least the liquid affront to real magic took effect instantly. For the next few hours, he'd be free from the headsplitting pain.Black smoke rose up in his crystal ball. He looked inside, forcing his eyes not to focus on anything. The mist swirled and danced around itself. An image slowly formed. Concentrating on it was still harder than usual, but manageable.
It formed to contours of a person. They laid on the ground, their arms outstretched to the side. Marvin instinctively took a step backwards. The person laying there was Blank. His eyes we're closed, and his arms and legs were strapped to the ground with black rope.
Yet, Marvin could feel that he wasn't out cold. Like before, he couldn't feel anything, really. Nothing at all. But that nothing was still very present. He'd need to try and find out as much as possible while Blank was idle. But not now. He could already feel the throbbing come back. It was terrifying to think that Blank had this kind of power over his mind, even over such a distance. Plus, he wasn't even awake.
For the first time in a long while, Marvin felt genuine fear. Blank was no force one should mess with. Who knew how long he'd stay put until he got bored.
