The tunnel brought back uncomfortable memories when Annus walked through the machine alone, desperately trying to find a way to stop Blank and Dark from killing Unus. It didn't help that one of them was now walking right behind him. He had to consciously remind himself that things were different now, else the dark and narrow tunnel would feel smaller with every step he took. The path in front of them was illuminated in a pale blue light coming from Guptis palm. It painted sharp shadows onto the walls. The only sound between their breath and the dripping of water was the scratching of metal against concrete. Luckily, it slowly vanished behind them.
They must have walked for ten, maybe fifteen minutes before coming to a crossing. Their path connected to a larger tunnel, with dry pathways on the side. One after another, they stepped down, out of the small tunnel they came from.
»Before we continue, there is something I want to teach you.« Guptis voice echoed off the cold walls. »Show me your wrists.« They complied, and he waved his hand over them. A symbol began to glow, and the lines formed into an hourglass, on top of which a countdown was counting backwards. »You can always see how much time you have,« the goat headed man explained. »Next, I will show you how you are able to always find each other, even if you get seperated.« The light in his hand began to spiral, and formed into a simple, compass-like symbol. »Imagine this forming on your hand while you touch the person you want to find.«Unus and Annus touched each other's arms and closed their eyes. On both of their left palms, the compass flickered into existence.
When Unus turned to Dark, he raised his hands up. »None for me, thank you. I'm not one for team bonding exercises.« He turned to Gupti. »Shouldn't we focus on getting out of here anyway?«They followed the large tunnel for a long while, long enough to loose track of time. But all the soreness was washed away when Annus felt a breath of fresh air brush his cheek.
