Getting back to the room of Unus and Annus was a lot easier now that Rouge was accompanied by Matthew. After all, his friend could freely move around the city, and knew the mazelike corridors as well as his own pack pocket. The guards gave them little more attention than a quick nod, and nobody felt like questioning the small hooded man walking alongside Matthew. Still Rouges senses stayed sharp.
His attention was equally devided between following the red line leading back, his surroundings and his breathing. As an adventurer, you quickly learn how to take everything in at the same time while staying completely calm.

Unus murmured a curse as he turned around again. He almost espected to see a trail in the ground behind him. He'd been pacing back and forth for what felt like ages. At least the window which was currently to his left offered some sort of distraction.
»He's gonna be fine,« Annus tried to calm him down. »I'm sure Rouge has been through similar difficult situations.«
»I know,« Unus responded, briefly stopping in his tracks. »I'm just getting sick of friends putting themselves in danger.« He looked outside with a sigh. »I wish we still had our powers.«

Annus agreed. As happy as he was about being out of the machine, their abilities would be more than useful now. A knock on the dore tore them from their brooding. They looked at each other and approached the door carefully. »Rouge?« Annus whispered. »Yes. Any ideas how we can open this door?«
»We can't do it from in here,« Unus responded. »Only the guards can do it.»
»Not just them,« an unfamiliar voice said. A few moments later, the door slid open. Annus sucked air through his teeth. The man who accompanied their friend had rescaled his definition of beauty in a heartbeat. He had seen many beautiful women, the most beautiful being Amy, of course. The spot of prettiest man had been more or less vacant, only sporadically manned by himself. Well, until know, that was. The man in front of him was at least as pretty as Zac Efron. Maybe, if that was even possible, prettier.

»Unus and Annus, my friend Matthew. Matthew, Unus and Annus,« Rouge introduced them. »Pleasuretomeetyou,« Annus responded, cleared his throat and shook Matthews hand.
»You can get us outta here?« Unus asked, following his example.
»I hope so,« Matthew responded with a grin. »Been waiting for a challenge like this. Follow me.«

The two men stepped outside. Unus half awaited sirens blaring or everything going red, but nothing like that happened. »The system thinks I'm a guard,« Matthew explained. »We've got maybe five minutes before they realize something is off.«
»No time to lose then,« Unus said. »Where now?«
