"Would you look at that! You're driving a car!" Jade Thirlwall yells in delight from her screen as she watches her best friend and... former bandmate drive her brother's old truck, being a practice car for her as she learned how to drive, Jesy grins.
"I can't believe I got my driver's license last week." She chuckles weakly, scratching the back of her neck as painful memories slowly haunt her, stinging her like a knife.
She wouldn't have gotten it if not for one person...
"Jes! When are you going to get it?" Leigh-Anne whines as she takes a seat on the ginger's lap, casually plopping herself down in a playful manner as Jesy glares at her, shoving her off, "Not in a million years."
"Perrie got hers!" The brown skinned girl retorts and as much as the older girl wanted to put up a fight... she just can't.
Not that she was afraid of the smaller girl or whatever but she just couldn't say no to her.
"Why are you so desperate for me to get my license? Perrie got hers, big deal." She responds bitterly, leaving a bad taste in her mouth because the blonde was her friend and she shouldn't hold grudges against her.
The youngest member didn't even do anything to her she's just— dare I say, jealous?
"Because I want you to drive up to my house. I want to wait for you at the gate and just wave at you and then squeeze you into a tight hug when you get out of the car." Leigh murmurs, a bit shy as she pries her eyes away from Jesy, who, in turn, was confused at the afro haired girl's response.
And Jesy could have said no like she usually does, could have rolled her eyes and made fun of the younger girl, she could have just walked out but somehow... she finds herself sighing, slumping her shoulders back as she finally gave in.
"Fine."
[ I got my driver's license last week just like we always talked about, 'cause you were so excited for me to finally drive up to your house. ]
"I'd call you back later, yeah?" She says, suddenly holding back tears as she ends the call to the brunette abruptly, wiping her tears away and taking a turn when she realizes where she was, the rows of houses suddenly making it more real.
She let the tears fall, driving around the suburbs as she tries to move on from everything but— why is she moving on?
It wasn't like Leigh-Anne was ever hers, hardly. She was hardly hers. Yet here she was crying as she drove around the suburbs because the other girl wasn't around.
[ But today I drove through the suburbs, crying 'cause you weren't around. ]
"Leigh! Hey! What's up?" Jesy grins into the phone, one ear on the speaker as she walks around her empty house, considering that her mum wasn't around today, she hears a giggle from the other end, "Someone sounds happy."
"I haven't talked to you in ages." The older girl responds jokingly as she feels the eye roll coming from Leigh-Anne, "We were just talking yesterday."
"Yeah but I missed you." She answered, it was silent for a while until she heard a faint, "Who are you talking to?" From the other end, she furrowed her eyebrows, that voice was familiar.
"Was that Perrie?" She asks, suddenly in doubt about the two as Leigh stalls, stammering, "No! Why— why would Perrie be with me? We're in a lockdown, bub."
"Mhm, sure." Jesy smirks, although in pain and in denial as she shakes her head.Leigh-Anne and Perrie... the two of them always made her doubt. Not that it would ever cause a rift between their friendship but she just couldn't help but be jealous of the Geordie, being around Leigh and all.
