the box

Jade was not a dog person.

Leigh-Anne knew that, her family knew that, hell, her girlfriend knows that.

She even called Hatchi a posh rat that one time!

But you see... people change, right?

Because right now she's on her way home, a box of at least four puppies on her arms as she thinks of what possible excuse to tell Perrie.

How did she end up with this? Let's take it back a few hours ago.

It was a regular day at the studio, she was scheduled with Leigh-Anne for the day and Perrie was alone at home, probably rebuilding their trampoline now that they've moved in at a new area, she smiles at the thought.

The blonde wasn't necessarily a "responsible," adult and she's made that clear when Jade said yes to spending her whole life with the younger Geordie a year ago, she just learned to accept it.

So, seeing Perrie do these things, even if it was for childish reasons, she loves it. She loves seeing this side of the younger girl.

"Are you done thinking about your fiance or can we go home?" Leigh asks from outside the booth, finger firmly on the button so she could speak to the brunette, Jade blushes, "W-What?"

"It's time bub! We can go home." The oldest member of their band chuckles as she hurriedly gets out, "Do you need a ride home?"

She didn't think about that. Perrie did drop her off earlier and Jade did say that she'd get a cab instead but the blonde insisted on picking her up. That would be great, until she remembered that she hadn't brought her phone with her.

"Will you drop me off a few blocks away?" She asks timidly, the dark skinned girl raises an eyebrow at the slightly smaller girl, "You told Perrie you'd call her but you forgot your phone, didn't you?'

"Ho—"

"It's not the first time this happened, babe. Don't worry, I won't tell her."

So, after Leigh drops her off two blocks away from their home, she was walking, hands inside her pockets as she places her hood up, not really wanting any paps to follow her home.

That's when she noticed an unusual box by the side of the road, just before she turned the corner to get home.

It could be three things; trash that she really shouldn't look at, some belongings that might be worth something at least or the worst of them all, a dismembered body part and now she's an accomplice to a crime she doesn't know exists.

It was neither of the three.

Right before she could even peek inside the box, she hears a faint cry followed by continuous whimpers, she grimaces.

Looking right back at her were four puppies small enough to fit in the palm of her hand.

Remember when Jade said she wasn't a dog person? She takes that back right now.

"Oh my god." She whispers to no one in particular as she squats to level herself with the box, one of the puppies, a tan one with its ears perked up, decided to approach her, and suddenly, she was willing to do anything for these dogs.

"H-Hi buddy... Are you alone?" Kinda stupid to ask literal puppies but she decides that it was a yes, so she picks the box up gently, comforting the dogs by singing as she walked home.

And listen, Perrie would love this... right?

This wouldn't inevitably put a rift between their relationship and suddenly everything they had would disintegrate... right?
