"So, Jade, Perrie, because either of you can be the person who could be proposed to, since you're together, either one of you could propose as well. Who's considering proposing?" Jonathan Ross asks as he leans over his chair, watching as the two women look at each other.
Leigh could only lean back with a smile, laughing internally, knowing how this had been a playful conversation between their group for quite some time, Perrie gulps, "I mean... how long have we been together now, bub?"
"Seven? Nearly eight years?" Jade answers from her spot, slightly irritated by the glass pane dividing her from her best friend and her girl, Leigh chuckles, "You know, we actually talked about this already. Jesy, which, by the way, we wish was here right now, told them that they should just skip it and get married."
"I approve of that idea, not gonna lie." The blonde mumbles, avoiding the older Geordie's gaze as she sips on her drink, Jade huffs, "If you won't do it, I probably will."
"Oh no, here they go again." The girl in between them whispers, silently pleading that Jesy would just— walk in and save her from her misery as the two began to banter, "I'm kidding, love, just waiting for the right time that's all."
"Would you say yes if Perrie asked you to marry her right now?" One of the other guests, Michael, asks rhetorically, Jade huffs, rolling her eyes as she crosses her arms over her chest, "Not with her attitude I won't."
"Hey! I would say yes if you asked me right now!" Perrie pouts, leaning over to watch her girlfriend as the others laughed, Leigh could only sigh.
The show had gone on normally, they got to perform and they had the chance to FaceTime Jesy, smiling at her as Leigh held the phone, "I wish you were here. They asked Jade and Perrie that question again."
"I told them to just skip it and get married." She smiles smugly through the screen, Jade begins whining, "But we're the romantic type."
"Which reminds me, you're not the romantic type but you proposed. Didn't skip the proposal bit and all." Perrie quips from her spot, getting her wig removed as she smirks, Jesy smiles fondly at her girl, "Leigh deserves the best."
"You take a break for what, two weeks? And suddenly you're all soft." The smaller Geordie chuckles, peeking from Leigh-Anne's shoulder as Perrie joins them, her hair finally down, "Yeah, what have you done to Jesy?"
Smiling at the girl on the screen, Leigh shakes her head, "You should see her when we're just alone." She grins, earning a reaction from the two as Perrie inches away, Jade mirroring her expression as she exclaims; "Ew, no!"
"Not that way you dingbat!" The ginger yells from the screen, huffing at them, bidding them goodbye before they were headed home, the tallest member tried her luck, wrapping her arms around Jade's waist as they walked away from Leigh-Anne, on her way home to Jesy.
"Are you actually going to say no?" She mumbles, hoping that she gets a different answer from earlier when the brunette huffs, "Well yeah you're taking too long to ask."
"Then why don't you ask me?" Perrie challenges, hoping that the other girl would smile when she gets an eye roll in return, "I asked you out, it's your turn."
"I asked you to move in with me." She retorts, Jade shrugs, "Then we're not getting married. If you won't ask, I won't. End of discussion."
And just like that, she leaves the blonde alone as she heads home.
Perrie stood there stunned, wringing her hands together as she looks around, watching as the crew members look at her, she offers them a smile before running after her girl but to no luck, she doesn't find her in the car, she doesn't find her on the streets and she doesn't find her at home.
She did get a text from Leigh-Anne, though, confirming that the smaller Geordie was crashing over at theirs for reasons she didn't say. Perrie tried coming over but Jesy stops her, knowing that it could be lethal for their relationship.
Not that they were ever toxic or problematic but they were on the stage where both of them desperately wanted to get married. Not that they were being forced to but they were already together for nearly eight years, they were bound to end up there at some point.
The only thing was, Jade had a bit of an ego in this situation, her pride was too high that she refused to ask. Perrie on the other hand, she was ready, she had a ring, she had a plan, she had everything set up but with this stupid pandemic, everything was ruined.
Perrie sighs, entering their shared bedroom as she plops on the bed, opening their bedside drawer and taking her small box filled with guitar picks, knowing that Jade would never open it, she takes the ring.
"If you only knew, Jade Amelia Thirlwall." She chuckles, only to be cut off when she hears a sudden sob, a clink of a fork dropping down on the ground, Perrie's eyes wander to the sound, she pales.
"Oh."
That was the last thing Jade mutters before she hurriedly opens her bag, letting her phone and keys clatter to the floor as she takes out a box, Perrie's jaw drops.
Jade couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Perrie was sitting on the edge of their bed, holding out a ring as she called out her name. While she herself was holding out a ring, finally succumbing to the idea of her proposing.
"This is cute, ain't it?" The taller Geordie mumbles, taking a step forward as she picks up the fork, actually surprised that her girl managed to keep hold of the plate of food on her hands. "You were going to ask me to marry you."
"You were waiting for the right time." Jade retorts, actually placing the plate down as she backed away, shaking her head as she laughs in utter disbelief.
This had to be a skit.
"I think it's the right time now, don't you think?" Jade could only nod her head as she opened the box awkwardly, having little to no experience in this stuff. Not that Perrie had her own experience either but she had hers planned.
Jade's was spontaneous. She didn't even know what to do.
"Do we both kneel or are we both going to look like morons?" She deadpans, her girl begins to laugh, "Don't even ask. It's already a yes."
The brunette didn't know if she wanted to combust, if she wanted to cry, if she wanted to jump up and down as she stared at her in awe, Perrie watches her with a grin, now lifting her hand as she shows her the ring. Her ring.
"Now, do I still have to ask you or is it a yes for you too?" She asks hopefully, not that she wasn't getting married to her either way but knowing that Jade would have said yes to her just brings her a wave of euphoria, a wave of assurance that yes, Jade would have said... yes.
(Not to add the fact that Perrie's competitive and knowing her, she would be in fits if Jade had said no to her.)
The brunette doesn't give her a direct answer, only kissing her, throwing her lithe frame onto the blonde as she twirls her around, kinda shaky as she sets her down.
"That's a yes?"
"Did you really think I would ever say no to you?"
And with that, Perrie could only grin as they both wore their new rings, kind of committing to each other.
Doesn't matter, they were on their way to their happily ever after.
