-----
Jade was a fire. So hard to chase, burns you to the touch.
She was a fire no one had ever dared to even stare at. No one dared to even dream of her, afraid she'll be sending her warriors for you.
She was a fire Perrie was willing to catch, willing to learn and willing to tame. Tame her and never let her flame disappear. Perrie, she fell in love but she can't.
It was an early morning, servants filled the markets, guards were surrounding the palaces and homes of the noble. Perrie arrived, her horse, Alexander, a black stallion she grew up with since she was a mere fifteen years old, right behind her as she stepped down from him.
The crowds made a path for her as she stopped to approach her great friend, Jessica, she prefers to be called Jesy. "What's got you up early and about? Don't you do rounds an hour later than this?" The ginger asked as Perrie approached her shop.
The knight rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, "It's for the the Princess Jade. I promised to get her the best bread outside her home. You're the only person I know who makes better bread than Lauren." Perrie explained, pointing at the newly baked biscuits. The baker kept silent, put them in bags and handed it to the knight.
Perrie handed her three golden coins. Jesy blinked, pushing it back to the blonde and shaking her head, "No, kind Dame, I can't accept this." She chuckled nervously as other Knights approached, Perrie wasn't bothered so she took the money, held Jesy's palm out and placed the coins there. "Keep it, please. You're my best friend and all you do is work. Go to the pub someday, buy yourself something, earn it."
And with one final wink, Perrie walked away, the crowds once again creating a path for her as she took off with her stallion.
Perrie was a noble. She always had been. Born to the family, she took up the knighthood when her brother fled with a woman he fell in love with. She despised him for that as she grew up, more and more she thought, but less and less as she too fell in love.
She was a knight, she wasn't supposed to fall in love. She was supposed to be tough, to protect.
She was still an unborn child when James and Norma Thirlwall, their King and Queen, left the kingdom as part of their expedition. Last she knew, they were off somewhere in Asia, still planning to take their children once they find what they were looking for. It's been a few years but Jade still had hope, as well as her brother Karl. Perrie knew.
The two remaining Thirlwalls resided with their uncle. His name was Simon, a Cowell, ancestors with the blood of thieves, murderers. But knowing the man, she knew he could trust her. After all, it's been ages since a Cowell had been imprisoned. Cowell was a Duke as well.
Jade woke up, her eyes fluttering open as her windows were opened by their maid, Camila. Jade yawned, stretched and sat up, "Camila, have you seen Perrie?" She asked as the girl turned, she nodded her head.
"The Duke wants to see you. The Knight Perrie is here as well." Camila informed, and that left Jade to run for the baths.
Jade was hopeless. No one liked her, no one dared to be with her. No one ever told her they loved her.
She felt unwanted and unloved, like a flame everyone is just wanting to put out. A flame so enticing yet so horrifying. A danger, a hazard.
That's when she met blue eyes and a warm smile. Luring her in until they were touching, holding, laughing. And they weren't burned.
