Jade wakes up with a ring on her finger.
And nothing else.
The first thing she sees as she slowly peels her eyes open is the blinding sun pouring in from the windows and she groans loudly as she attempts to roll away from them. But instead of falling into the comfort of her pillow, her face smashes into sun warmed skin and her entire posture goes rigid. Last time she checked, she had left this hotel room by herself and she certaintly hadn't invited anyone back with her. Or at least she can't remember it.
"Please don't be Jed. Please don't be Jed."
Jade sucks in a harsh breath and slowly sits up as she turns her head and is greeted by a mess of blonde locks. A squeak catches in the back of her throat as she tumbles back, and she pauses as she sees the gleam of something on her finger. In place of the usual overly flashly engagement ring that usually rests on her finger, a simple silver band with a diamond rests safely in its place. And just like that, the memories begin to hit her as she stumbles off the bed and towards the bathroom.
"Diamonds? Really?"
Jade pouts as she looks to the woman beside her, "It's beautiful."
"Are you sure it's the one you want?"
"It is." Jade whispers as she looks at the ring protected by the thick layer of glass in the display cabinet. "Jed picked out my engagement ring with my adoptive father, they wanted to make a statement. This is...subtle. And it's my favorite stone."
The woman beside her smiles softly and shrugs, "Diamond it is then."
After Jade is done emptying the contents of her stomach and the regrets from the night before into the toilet, she slowly tiptoes her way back into the open space of the hotel room and pauses to admire the woman that rests peacefully in her bed. The bedsheets do little to cover the length of the woman's spine and the adorable dimples at the small of her back, and for some reason a roll of warmth rotates through her.
"What the hell did I do?" Jade whines to herself as she fumbles for her phone.
The battery is almost dead, but she manages to pull up her last conversation with her best friend and she cringes as she sees that it is currently already being blown up. With a quick glance over her shoulder, Jade checks on the stranger in her bed before she turns her attentionb back to her phone and begins to frantically text in the group chat between her little circle of friends.
Poopey: I have a fucking problem.
Canola: Does the problem involve that blonde you were flirting with last night?
Jesminda: If it invovles Jed then I will happily kick his ass.
Tommo: Are you okay you dumb piece of shit that we all love?
Poopey: I would be okay if I didn't have a ring on my finger. Btw, that's bloody rude ^
Jesminda: Uh, Poopey..
Jesminda: Whose ring? Jed's?
Tommo: YOU DIDN'T! DUMBASS
Canola: Amelia, please tell me you didn't marry that chick.
Poopey: I did.
Jesminda: More like I do, right? lmao
Poopey: I hate you.
Jade freezes as she hears the rustle of the bedsheets and she drops her phone quickly and turns to glance over her shoulder as the blonde sits up and the sheets ripple silently down her body. A soft breath leaves Jade as she gaps openly at the goddess before her, and blue eyes tiredly turn to her before the woman gives her a half-smile and rubs at her eyes as she stretches her arms over her head.
