———

Jade wasn't crazy. She knew that. The whole school knew that. Her friends knew that. Her family knew that.

I mean, aside from the fact that she was convinced her apartment was haunted because the temperature just suddenly drops or the TV would open and switch on to MTV.

Sometimes it switches to channel's where a musical was playing. There were also other times where she swore she left her fridge closed and came back to it open.

Leigh and Jesy told her maybe it was just the stress catching up to her. I mean, it made sense so she just shrugs it off, thinking that maybe she left it and just forgot about it.

"Jade, I know you're very stressed right now but when are you going to tidy up your place?" Jesy mutters as she takes a seat on the pile of clothes, Leigh nods, nearly tripping on the can of sodas on the corner of the room, Jade shrugs.

"I was about to until you lot came in. Why are you here anyway?" She mutters, annoyed, the bronze skinned girl huffs, "Babe, you're literally an inch away from being removed from the music program."

"And the only way you could save your spot is if you cou—"

"If I join the competition and prove that I belong in that program. Yeah, I know." She cuts Jesy off and the ginger could only give her a small smile before it turns into a frown, "You guys also know why I stopped singing, right?"

"Jade— I, we know that you're not going to listen to this because you've heard it so many times but please. Hear us out."

"I know how hard it was. Jesy knows how hard it was. We saw it happen, we were there. But that doesn't mean you have to stop making music because of it. You are literally the second most talented person I know."

"Second—?" Jesy asks disbelievingly as Leigh gives her a glare, "Shut up, I'm the first talented person I know." She bites back and Jade couldn't help but laugh, feeling her heart swarm at her best friend's words.

She doesn't look like it but she knew she cared. Maybe even more than anyone else. She knew Jesy did as well.

They were her family.

"Look, just consider the competition. If you want to be a solo act or if you want to join Leigh and I, just let us know." Jesy grins, patting her back before standing up, taking Leigh's arm as the other girl gives Jade a hug. "Clean up, Poopey! Your place stinks."

Jade didn't move. She just stared at the mess in front of her, groaning before actually beginning to clean up, putting some of her unused stuff in the small storage room that came with her apartment.

She could see the old, dusty boxes filled with CDs, some clothes, even shirts. She could see the head of a guitar, the dust piling up on it. Out of curiosity and boredom, she places her boxes down before taking it.

She wasn't really skilled in that area, playing the guitar. She was more of a vocalist, a writer. She was far from a producer.

But she tries, ignoring the dust that it would leave on her shirt, she strums a chord, once, twice, changes it up. It wasn't perfect and it wasn't entirely bad either but that wasn't what she really gave her attention to.

"You know, your wrist is too stiff. Let it loose." She hears from somewhere behind her and she didn't know if she should scream or if she should run because she swore Jesy and Leigh-Anne had already left.
