10. Disastrous Date

Sapphires P.O.V

I suddenly felt the entire room close in on me. The only sound that left my mouth was a deafening screech.

ZANE ASKED ME OUT ON A DATE.

Mia and I were at my house when Zane sent me the text. I flung my phone across the room, hoping the text would disappear when my phone hit the wall. One part of me was excited the other pooped her pants. I've never been on a date, the only date I had was with Bobby when I was 13 and it was a group date and MY MUM WAS THERE.

Safe to say that me and Bobby weren't meant to be because he now avoids me like the plague.

"This is going to be amazing and I already have the perfect outfit even though it is short notice" I grabbed a pillow and screamed into it. Mia was already much more prepared than me.

Zane decided to spontaneously go on a date considering neither of us would agree on a day, so he texted me that he will pick me up this evening. To say I was freaking out would be an understatement.

This was going to be the first time that I was alone with Zane. We are always with my friends and I can already feel the panic rising, how will I get out of an awkward conversation normally someone makes a joke and we all move on. My mind was racing with a million thoughts and none were good.

"Stop overthinking it, Zane adores the ground you walk on" I felt the heat rise in my face. Zane and I got close so quickly it was pretty amazing, considering how awkward I was. I can barely hold a conversation at times.

Me and Mia spent our day binge watching Gossip Girl and eating junk. I tried not to go crazy with the eating because Zane had said he will be taking me to dinner. I really hope it's someplace nice because I unfortunately am a picky eater and trying new foods does not sit well with me.

Maybe that's why me and Bobby never worked out, he had asked me to try his favourite food and I remember gagging and ruining everyone's appetite. Or it could have been when I accidentally farted when I sneezed and it was REALLY LOUD.

I guess I'll never know, but I'm quite the catch if you ask me.

Mia quickly went to her house to get a pair of clothes since I owned nothing 'cute'. Whilst waiting for her I took a shower and made sure there was no hair left on my body. I walked out feeling fresh and soft as a cloud.

I ran a hand through my hair, but was stopped by a slap to my hand.

"Ow what was that for" I glared at Mia who gave me a look which mirrored mine.

"I just spent time doing your hair. DO NOT TOUCH IT"

"Gee, sorry" I rolled my eyes at her, I turned to the mirror again and appreciated her hard work. She had curled my hair in loose waves, for my makeup she did a soft eye and a nude lip.

I looked good.

I was trying my best not to sweat because Zane was coming and I was so nervous. I felt like I was going to explode.

Mia gave me a pep talk as we were walking down the stairs.

"It will be fine, just pretend it's just another day of you hanging out. Don't be nervous and if you feel things are getting awkward you can always go to the bathroom and give yourself a minute to get yourself together. Plus I'll be here til you get back so you can text me"
