Sapphires P.O.V

I was laying on the sofa when my dad came through the door. He looked tired, his hair was disheveled as if he tried to rid his problems by running his hands through his hair.

"Hi princess" He gave me a wide smile, masking his troubles so I do not worry.

"Hi dad" I got up from the sofa to give him a hug. I held him tighter as I haven't seen much of him. My dad is running between work and staying at the hospital with Gramps. It's been a week and he is still quite unwell.

"I'm gonna get changed and then head to work"

"I ordered food for you so you can eat before you go"I would attempt to cook but I didn't want my dad to get food poisoning.

"Saph you shouldn't have, I could've grabbed something on the way to work" He kissed my forehead before heading up the stairs.

I warmed up the food for him and set it on the table. I looked outside, the sun was burning brightly and here I was sitting at home miserably.

My dad's loud footsteps snapped me out of the self pity party, he came down dressed in his uniform. His tattoo sleeve on display as he did not have on his jacket. I smiled as I remembered as a child I would always trace the patterns on his arm.

"What are you staring at?" I looked at him as I realised he had sat down whilst I was still travelling down memory lane.

"Nothing, I was thinking about how cool your tattoos are" I rolled my eyes as I saw how chuffed he got.

"I was thinking of adding a new piece on my shoulder" I nodded in agreement as he went on about what design he had in mind.

I stretched as another episode of 'Beyond Scared Straight' came on. I had been binge watching since my dad had left for work. I was going to be home alone once again and my dad said that he would go straight to the hospital after his shift which meant I won't see him until tomorrow evening.

I got up to turn the AC higher as it was boiling, despite it being late into the afternoon the sun was burning brightly.

*buzz*

I looked to see that Mia was calling me.
"Saph!"

"Hey" I laughed as she sounded pretty hyper on the other side of the phone.

"Are you busy?" I turned to look at the T.V when it said 'are you still watching' Yikes

"Not really, why?"

"Well get ready we're going to the beach, its perfect day to go"

"I don't really feel like going"

Truth is I didn't really like going to the beach, people stare at my patches and it makes me uncomfortable.     Plus the real reason is my mum, we had a tradition where we would go together to the beach after she finished work and watch the sunset.

It probably sounds like a stupid reason but because of the way she left, it would be hard going to a place that was special to us.

"Saph, come on, it will be fun. We're all going and it won't be fun without you"

"Pretty pleaaaaaasseeee"

"Fine" I guess I can't avoid going there for the rest of my life.

Maybe today will be fun and I won't even remember.
