Sapphire's P.O.V
I woke up in the middle of the night to the voices of my grandparents arguing. I got out of my bed and walked towards their room. I knocked on the door before they let me in.
"What's going on Grams, is everything ok? " She sighed before walking towards me.
"Your Gramps isn't taking his fucking medicine and its driving me crazy" I laughed when I saw how childish Gramps was acting.
I walked towards him and sat on the bed.
"Gramps you know you have to take your medicine"
"It tastes fucking horrible and I don't need it I'm perfectly fine" I laughed because my grandparents were really old and them swearing made everything 10x more funnier. The pair of them swore like sailors.
"Is that why you were coughing up your damn lungs not long ago" Grams crossed her arms and gave him a stern look.
"This woman has been on my case ever since, it was a little cough" He knows when he calls Grams woman it annoys her and he got the exact reaction he wanted from her.
"A little?!?!" I started to laugh because they both were acting like children bickering amongst themselves.
"Ok guys stop fighting. Gramps even though it was a 'little cough' you have to take your medicine...please" I gave him the puppy dog eyes and he sighed before sitting up straight.
I handed him his medicine and a glass of water. Grams smiled at me because getting him to take his medicine was always a nightmare. I waited until both of them were in bed.
"Good night Grams" I kissed her forehead before moving to kiss Gramps.
"Night Gramps"
"Goodnight sweetheart" I smiled at them and then shut their door heading to my room.
I got into my bed and closed my eyes. No matter how much Gramps acts like he is ok, we all can see that he is not. All the treatment he's been getting has been working but it hasn't helped him significantly. He is no longer the Gramps that used to always take me to the park and we would spend the day together, just laughing and running around.
I felt a hot tear slid down the side of my face when I remembered the horrible day we found out that he has cancer. I swallowed the lump in my throat, it felt a ball of emotions trying to choke me but I tried my best to suppress them. The summer had been like hell, Gramps was sick in hospital and then my mum walking out on us.
What a life.

I woke up in the morning and turned towards my alarm which said 8:20am !!! I shot out of my bed. I was going to be late and school was starting in 10 minutes. I rushed and got ready which took forever because I couldn't find any decent clothes, they were all still all over the place.
I ran down the stairs to see my dad getting up to leave.
"Dad, wait!" He turned around and looked at me.
"2 minutes, grab something quickly and I'll be in the car" I ran to the kitchen where Grams handed me 2 pieces of toast and an apple.
"Have a good day at school Sapphire" she kissed my cheek and I ran out of the door.
"Thanks Grams"
I sat in my dad's car and we pulled out of the driveway. Here I was hoping that we would make it but there was traffic everywhere.
