~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~❤️~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Sapphire's P.O.V
After hearing what Rafael went through, I felt as if someone had pierced my heart. It was so unfair that he and his friends went through all this. It sickened me that despite us living in the 21st century, most people still have a horrible mentality of believing one race is superior to another.
After tonight I was seeing Rafael in a whole different light. He didn't get to experience his teenage years like the rest of us did.
He spent it alone in prison. It explained why he always seemed much older than he was.
I also realised the reason why he had such a guarded personality. It hurt to know that his own father betrayed him like that. Between his parents rocky relationship to his father letting him take the fall it has led to Rafael becoming the person he is today.
But underneath it all he managed to keep his heart of gold.
"Are you still crying" I felt his hand on my cheek and I swatted it.
"No" I frowned as I looked at the ground.
"Seems like you are" I looked at him with blurry eyes and he had a soft smile on his face.
"Only you will laugh after telling someone something like this" I hit his shoulder making him throw his head back laughing.
"I'm sorry for laughing but it's ok, we're ok now" I looked at him and I felt frustration inside of me. How can one go through so much and come out of it with their heart intact.
"It just frustrates me that you went through so much and you all still are so kind and good. I just wish I could do something to help you clear your name" It hurts knowing that they were defamed and people still talk horribly behind their backs.
"Your belief in us is more than enough, not everyone believes us and for that I'm grateful" His words held a sadness behind them and it pierced at my heart. Him and the guys were robbed of precious years of their life and even after gaining their freedom they are prisoners of people's words and horrible thoughts.
"What are you thinking about" I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Rafaels voice.
"Nothing" I avoided eye contact with him, he was staring at me with curiosity and I couldn't bear the pressure of looking into his beautiful eyes.
"You still wanna lie to me at this point" I frowned at him, it bugged me how he knew when I was lying. For someone who knew me for a short amount of time, he seemed to know me really well.
"Fine. I was thinking about you and your friends" I avoided eye contact with him as he turned his body towards me. He raised his eyebrow at me before speaking.
"Listen, I know we are friends and all but keep them dirty thoughts to yourself" I felt my jaw drop.
"Besides, if you are gonna have wild thoughts take my friends out of the equation, it'll be much better" He winked at me as he took a sip of his drink.
I felt myself get flustered and struggled to get out a word. The eye contact he held whilst drinking had me feeling overwhelmed.
"You are insufferable" I looked away from him and at the beautiful sight before me.
"I'm only messing with you" A small laugh made its way out of him and the second my ears heard it, a zoo of butterflies attacked me on the inside. Why does he do this to me?
I looked ahead and felt myself reflecting on everything so far, I never imagined in a million years to be friends with someone like Rafael.
"If you told me on the first day of school that we would become friends I would've laughed in your face" I let out a small laugh before turning towards Rafael.
