I laid in my bed hoping sleep would come to me but it wouldn't because one, it was 10:30pm and two I kept replaying all those nasty words said to me. Being alone leads to me thinking about horrible things. But I was proud of myself for standing up to Karen and Zane, even though it was a lame attempt I was proud that I said something instead of staying quiet.

I got up and made my way to the kitchen, I found some chocolates up in one of the cupboards and started to eat them.

"I thought you'd be asleep by now sweetie" I looked to see Grams in her adorable PJ's. She had the typical granny dress on.

"I couldn't sleep, so I came down to have a little snack" She nodded before walking towards the bin.

"Grams stop, you're not touching any trash, not on my watch. I'll take it out" She rolled her eyes at me before coming near me to kiss me.

"Well make sure you remember to take it out, and lock the doors when you're done. I'm off to bed"

"Goodnight Grams"

"Goodnight my lovely"

After finishing my snack, I grabbed the trash and went outside to throw it. The air was nice and cool outside, I found myself taking forever to walk down the driveway.

"Do you have a thing for getting attached to trash?"

"First that boy and now this" I looked over to see Rafael walking towards me with a smirk on his face. He threw his cigarette on the floor and put it out.

"I was throwing it out"

"Yet you're still holding onto it" I scowled at him before throwing it in the bin.

"There ya happy" He gave me a sarcastic smile which had me rolling my eyes at him.

"What are you doing out so late anyways, isn't it past your bedtime"

"I don't have a bedtime" I sounded pretty childish which earned a laugh from Rafael.

"I was having a hard time sleeping" He slowly nodded his head.

"Are you feeling better" I looked at him with a questioning look and then realised he saw my act from earlier.

"Yeah much better" I answered him without making eye contact, I lowered my voice and tried to make it sound as if I was sick.

"You know you're very shit at lying, I could tell you weren't ill. I saw what happened at lunch, and I appreciate you standing up for us like that"

I felt myself blush, he probably witnessed me lunging at Zane, and also heard what he called me. I started picking at my fingers hoping we could talk about something else.

"Meet me at the end of the street in 10 mins" Rafael broke the awkward silence.

"It's late I can't"

"Thought you didn't have a bedtime" He gave me a smug look, knowing he already won.

"I don't, I-" I felt myself stuttering, the truth of the matter was, I was nervous to go with him.

"10 minutes" He walked away and left me standing on the driveway.

I went back inside and saw Gramps in the kitchen. I gave him a wave and ran to my room. I'm not going. I got into my bed and closed my eyes.

He really thinks he can order me around and I'll listen. Well think again.

Screw you Rafael. I found myself getting out of my bed and getting changed into something warm. I went over to the window and it was big enough for me to climb out of.
