A woman in early fifties was knocking a door

"Wake up! You will miss your flight!"

"What flight?" came a low voice from the other side of the door.

Finally after managing to unlock the door the woman rushed in and banged a pillow on her daughter's face. It was motherly so it did not hurt, but was enough for the daughter to wake up.

"What flight? Really? Did you forget that you have a job as a doc in the states? Or did are you dreaming something other than becoming a world class surgeon?" Said the mother pulling off the duvet off her daughter.

"OH MY GOD! How can I forget that my vacation mode was over yesterday!" said the girl quickly realizing what her mother was saying.

"Oh by the way I was not dreaming about anything else. {she looks at the clock, it was 8:30 am} Really mom? It is 8:30! My flight is at 5. It would not have been a problem if I slept a little more. I am 25, I know to handle this.....

She was cut in the middle by her mom

"Exactly, you are 25 and let me complete that sentence for you. (mocking) I know how to handle my life. If I can handle being an intern at Grey-Sloan this is nothing! I'm I right or I'm I right?" her mother  used this daily dialogue of hers.

"Wow, impressive! You have learnt my language!" replied her daughter.

"Ok. Enough of this now, get up. Before leaving you have to go to temple and your grandparents." Said her mother leaving the room

The girl is our heroine Gauri. She was a medical student, she had come home for her break after residency. Today she was returning to the states.

After going to the temple and visiting her grandparents she bid an emotional goodbye to her mom and dad and left.

After reaching in USA, she landed in New York. Earlier she was living with her friends who too worked at the hospital. But her friend was getting married so Gauri had to look for a place to stay. Hopefully, she got an apartment in New York. It was neither in the concrete jungle nor in the town. It had 2 rooms and a beautiful view.

Apartment:

Gauri had saw the apartment and was moving in. She was attending the packers and movers when an old lady came to her.

"Hello sweetheart! Are you the new person in our building?" the old lady asked very lovingly. Gauri immediately felt warmth by her approach.

"Yes. I am just moving in." Gauri replied with a wide smile.

"Great! I'm Mrs Johnson. You can call me Elle. What is your good name?"

"I am Gauri, Mrs Johnson, oh sorry Elle" she replied shaking hands with Elle.

"Good. I live on the first floor if you need anything you are always welcome." Said Elle and then left.

Gauri lived on the third floor. Every floor had two apartments. When she saw her neighbour's door it was closed, unlike any other door, this door was not at all decorated neither had a name plate on it.

As she was still moving in she had no time for self-grooming. She was wearing a casual sleeveless top with a black floral kimono jacket with denim shorts. Her hair was tied in a loose high bun over her head and she had put on her glasses which made her look even more cute.

The packers and movers had done all the work and left but Gauri noticed that they had left a box. So she herself picked it up and started going towards her apartment. As the box was big she held it in front of her and was barely able to see anything. Luckily she found her door and was about to open it. She kept the box down and opened the door then again picked up the box and was about to enter when a manly voice came from behind her.

"Excuse me. Who are you?" The voice asked.

Gauri was tired after the days work. Innumerable phone calls, hunger and answering each and every passing person in the building telling them that she was moving in had made her cocky and irritated.

"Well I have a big cardboard box with stuff inside, I am not wearing a packers and movers advertisement T-shirt which means that I am not from packers and movers; and if you peek in this flat you will see that all the things are scattered saying clearly, that I am moving in!" said Gauri turning to the man's side with an extremely irritated voice.

Because of the box, our hero Omkara was not able to see her face. All he could see was her bun, a little bit of her forehead and her legs.

Although Gauri had a box, she could see the tall man standing in front of her. He was handsome, well dressed and of course dashing. He was in formal wear, which told Gauri he had come from his job.

"Cocky much new neighbour?" Om asked in a funny tone. He knew what a person has to go through when they move in.

"New neighbour? Oh hi!" Gauri realised he was her neighbour. This conversation looked funny because it was only Gauri who knew whom she was talking too while Om had not seen her face yet. Gauri quickly kept the box in her flat and turned to see Om . While keeping the box her bun fell loose making her hair fall down.

Om, who was not interested in girls and left the idea of love, was mesmerized to some extent.

Gauri now looked even more beautiful with her hair loose and her specs and big doe eyes added it to her cuteness.

"Sorry, a number of phone calls, hunger and answering every single person passing by did this to me." Said Gauri, with a sheepish smile.

Om too chuckled at her mood and forwarded his hand for a hand shake.

"Omkara, your neighbor."

"Gauri, your neighbor" she replied with a funny tone reciprocating his hand shake.

Om turned to his door and Gauri to hers and they both went in their respective rooms.
