Gauri's pov:
Shocked. I was shocked to see him on my doorstep. That too now?
"We really need to talk." He said hastily, panting, on my doorstep.
"You have a flight like....now." I said showing him the time on my phone.
"I know but talking to you is far more important than that flight," he
explained.
Why did my heart flutter?
Stop it, Mr Heart!
"We've been through this before. You and I have nothing more to talk about." I uttered. I was mad. I have the right to be mad.
"No we haven't. There is so much to talk about. Three years, Gauri. Three years and you are married. We need to catch up." He said, giving a smile.
Catch up?
"We're not best buddies or pals that we accidentally meet at someone's wedding and catch up with drinks over lunch." I scoffed.
"But we were best friends once, weren't we? I don't expect you to go back to the way we used to be; and I'm not gonna force 'us'. But I'm hoping you give it a chance." he said air quoting 'us'.
I couldn't help but scoff in disbelief again. This man was just throwing unbelievable sentences in my face.
We?
Us?
"There is no 'we' and 'us' anymore. It's you and I. And yes, we WERE bestfriends, we're not anymore." I told him folding hands over my chest.
"Gauri, who's there?" Lucas' voice echoed from inside the house.
"It's O...Nobody." I answered back deliberately looking deep into Omkara's eyes. It had to hurt him.
"I'm a nobody now?" Omkara asked, his voice trembling a bit.
"You need to go. Now. Or you will miss your flight." I said avoiding his question.
"To hell with the flight. Don't I deserve a second chance? Just hear me out." he voiced.
Damn it!
Not those words.
How could I say no to these words, these were the exact words I had used to make Rudra listen to me.
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked faintly.
"So that's a yes?" he asked, a small smile broke through his lips.
"Answer my question first." I said sternly.
"About the accusation that I put on you three years ago." he said and my breath hitched a bit.
Why?
Why would you want to put me through it all again?
Out of all the scenarios that I was imagining about this conversation going this topped in the 'Worst scenario' list.
Why did he have to talk about it? Wasn't it enough torturous in memories that he had to have a loud and clear conversation about it.
"Can we please talk about it somewhere?" he asked again and before I could answer I got a call from Priyanka.
