NEXT DAY:
After returning from her long morning run, Gauri bathed, got ready and went to Om's house by 9am. Om invited her in and showed the way to the kitchen.
Gauri was seeing his apartment for the first time, it was all white. White couch, white furniture, table top, vase, everything white. Although it was monotonous, it was designed and maintained nicely.
Om had prepared the ingredients for an omelet.
"Okay, let's start with something very simple today. French omelet!"
Om said with an exited tone.
GAURI'S POV:
I appreciate what Om is doing by helping me, but seriously an omelet? Does he really think that I am that bad of a cook?
"Great! let's make an omelet!" I replied trying to sound as cheerful as I could.
"You don't seem happy about it." He quickly shot at me.
"I am happy, I just thought that you would teach me something harder. You know like an pancake or something." I gave him an answer trying to sound a little convincing and respectful for some reason.
"OH...., well, there are 2 things. 1, do you wanna eat a pancake? And 2; omelets are not as easy as they seem." He said
Well he just said 'start with something simple' I'm I being too judgy?
Anyways.
POV ENDS.
Gauri agrees to his saying and they start making an omelet, soon after making it Om toasts some breads and servers the plate beautifully.
Gauri was surprised at his hand in cooking, and serving for that matter.
When, she tasted the dish and was amazed.
"Oh my god! This is so good!" Gauri appreciated Om.
Om had been appreciated in much more descriptive words before but this appreciation felt special to him.
After finishing their breakfast with some general talks Gauri helped him clean up, took the groceries list from him, and was about to leave. When she stopped and said
"Hey, I am sorry"
"For what" he asked not knowing the reason for the apologizing.
"I shouldn't have underestimated you in cooking and about you teaching me an omelet which is not as easy as it seems."
"It's alright, but now you know the method truly." He replied chuckling.
They both talked for a while and Gauri left.
"Bye"
"Bye, see you in the evening."
After about an half an hour Om left his house, and went down to the parking lot. Where he saw Gauri fidgeting with her phone.
"Hey, you are still here?" he asked reaching her.
"Oh hey, yes. I got a flat tire and Uber seems to hate me to even accept me as a customer." She replied sarcastically.
"You really like sarcastic humor don't you?." He asked chuckling.
"Let me drop you." He offered.
"What, no no it's fine, I am trying Lyft."
"It will take time for you to install, put in the address, drop location and all. You would rather reach your hospital early with me."
Finally she gave in and followed him to the car.
They talked in the car, not at all a silent ride. When Gauri suddenly asked
"How did you know that I don't have Lyft installed in my phone?, wild guess or.."
"I had heard you leave your house right after our breakfast, so when I saw you down there I figured you would have called a Lyft if you had it installed already. See sometimes common sense helps too." He replied teasing her.
They seemed to enjoy each other's company. They reached the hospital. Om dropped her at the correct gate, she didn't even have to tell him the address or a direction, as the hospital was under Oberoi Medical Trust; Om knew exactly where to go; but she definitely did not know this.
"Thank you, for this and morning." Gauri said with a wide and beautiful smile while getting down from the car.
"You are most welcome. Oh hey, do you want me to pick you up in the evening?"
"No, thanks for offering, I am on call tonight so I won't be returning home tonight. Also, aren't you worried about your boss, you know you are going to be late by almost an hour, all because of me." She said showing him her watch.
"Don't you remember, you yourself said it was a nice place to work. But you are right I should leave now, Bye, see you tomorrow morning." And he left.
Gauri was good friends with most of the hospital staff, but had 2 best friends, Jackson and Jo Wilson.
Jo had seen her and Om and had also shamelessly eavesdropped on their conversation. She quickly paced towards Gauri and tapped her shoulder.
"When were you deciding to tell me that you were dating?" She asked with extreme curiosity.
"What, I am not dating anybody!" Gauri replied wondering where she got that idea.
"Oh come on, please tell me you are dating that guy in the black car who just dropped you, I heard you! You literally said thank you for this morning!" She said whisper screaming.
It took Gauri a second to realize the double meaning of Jo's statement.
"Are you nuts, no please tell me. That 'guy in the black car' is my neighbor just because you kicked me out of your house because of your marriage, not that I blame you but, hold on, you eavesdropped?!" Gauri backfired her while whisper screaming too.
"Also that 'thank you' was because he gave me breakfast like literal actual food, so no I am not dating him." Gauri said disgusted at what her friend was implying.
The whole day passed by, Gauri finished her surgeries and was now on on-call duty. When Jackson came from behind.
"Hey, why are you still here? Come on we are getting late." He said handing over the report tab to the nurse.
"I am on-call Jack, and what are we late for?" Gauri replied confused.
"Check your mails, your duty has been transferred, you me and JOJO (Jo Wilson) are going to a club party, did you forget it was my birthday last week?"
"Oh my god really!, let's go,"
She and Jack came to her apartment as Jo was directly going there. They went inside, she got ready in a beautiful black sequin dress, hoop earrings, her long hair in waves set loose, and black stiletto heels. After getting ready she and Jack were coming out of the door, when they saw Om.
Om knew she had friends, he also had figured that she might have a boyfriend after spending time with her in the whole week, but she hadn't mentioned him anywhere, so he thought Jack was her boyfriend.
