Gauri Sharma

"I'm gonna get Priyanka." I said and went upstairs to Priyanka's room.

A minute later I got a decked up yet very beautiful Priyanka down. To my displeasure, Omkara was still talking to that beautiful girl, Bella. What are they talking about!? Priyanka greeted everyone in Ranveer's family and everyone sat down.

Third person's pov:

The ceremonies started and everyone seated in their respective places. The house was filled with a joyous feeling and laughter. Each and every person, happy. While Gauri and Anika chose to sit beside each other; Anika whispered to Gauri.

"Gauri! Hungry."

Anika's revelation like that of a hungry 5 year old to Gauri in the middle of a ceremony made her giggle a little.

"Di, the ceremony's just started. And didn't you eat like 15 minutes ago?" Gauri asked, whispering and not moving to face Anika.

"Are you implying that I eat a lot?" She asked, annoyed a bit.

Hopefully, Gauri understood that the hormones had taken the better part of Anika and was nothing but frustrated.

"No, not at all. I understand you are feeding for two there, but you cannot get up from here." Gauri whispered back.

"I know that very well! I can't get up but you can. Go in the kitchen and get me something, please." Anika pleaded.

Looking around and taking in the situation of the family and understanding that she had no other option than to help her hungry, pregnant, hormonal not to mention very annoyed at this point Anika di; Gauri quickly got up from her place and sneaked into the kitchen.

"What are you doing here?" Someone asked Gauri as she entered the kitchen.

"What are you doing here?" Gauri asked back, taking in the person's presence there.

"I came here to get water." Omkara said as he poured a glass for himself and gestured towards Gauri asking if she wanted to which she shook her head saying no.

"Oh, okay." She said and walked near the fridge.

"I asked you first and you didn't answer my question. What are you doing here? You are supposed to be sitting with everyone else." Omkara said in a rather annoyed tone.

Irked by his choice of words and tone and also not to mention the smiling and giggling time he had spent with his old flame, Gauri was not very pleased with him considering she had given him a second chance and he not spent even a minute to make a conversation with her ever since she arrived here, in his house.

"So are you, you are supposed to be sitting with everyone else too. And as for now, I don't think I am answerable to you." She replied, eyeing the fridge looking for something that Anika could eat.

"Are you mad or something? I asked you a simple question, a simple answer was not much to expect." Omkara blurted out, continuing with his tone.

Meanwhile, Gauri simply chose to ignore him and look for some healthy food. Although she was not appreciating the tone he used, she knew better than to irk an already irked and annoyed Omkara.

She was here for her best friend's wedding, nothing else. He was her best friend's brother right now, nothing else.

She reminded herself.

"I have been seeing you ever since evening, you have not talked even a single word to me." Omkara continued with his ranting.

This was a point Gauri felt the need to give him an earful. She raised her eyebrows and looked at him in surprise.

"I am honestly surprised that you were even seeing me considering you were talking with Bella all evening ever since she set foot in your house. I was not the one who came running back from the airport asking for a second chance a month ago." Gauri said, but this time she chose to look him in the eye and say it to his face.

"You're mad because I was talking to Bella? She's my friend. I met her after so many years. We were catching up. You are staying here for the whole wedding, I mean, of course she is too, but she is not the one staying in this house." Omkara argued.

Met her after so many years? Let me think of how many times we've talked in the past three years! Oh ZERO!  Gauri thought.

This was not the Omkara Gauri knew. This was not how he treated her or how he talked to her at all. Not that she was an attention seeker or wished that she was the center of attraction but the words chosen by Omkara were definitely not very nice.

"Listen to yourself, you don't sound like yourself. What are you saying? This is not who you used to be." Gauri said in a much calmer tone.

"Or maybe you're just not used to the way I talk after all these years." Om blurted coldly.

She was continuously questioning why he was behaving this way. She felt like she was talking to his twin who was the complete opposite of him in everything, but looks. The person she was talking to right now was cold, angry, frustrated and not at all like she remembered him. She looked at his face once again and noticed his eyes were darted to her left hand's fingers; ring finger to be specific. He was looking at the platinum wrapped around her ring finger. He kept looking at it with a horrified face, a face that gave many expressions, anger, sadness, betrayal but mostly, heartbreak. His deep and beautiful eyes showed an emotion that Gauri would name as heartbreak. She quickly removed her hand that was placed on the refrigerator's handle and replaced it with her right hand that was under the fruit bowl that she had taken out for Anika.

"I—uh, I erm have to go and give it to Anika di." Gauri said not meeting his eyes and left the kitchen leaving a hurting Omkara alone.

"Took you long enough!" Anika said, eyeing the fruit bowl like it was a treasure shown to a greedy pirate.

"Sorry, I couldn't find anything healthy enough." Gauri replied, placing the bowl in Anika's hands.

Gauri sat down in her place and looked around. Omkara was nowhere to be seen; to her amusement so was Bella. Bella and Omkara, the brother and sister of the bride and the groom both missing from a very important ceremony, together. She bit her inner cheek in annoyance and thought about the incident that had taken place in the kitchen. She could still see Omkara's hurtful gaze on her ring. She looked down to her hands with the ring that gave a label to her identity. Married- it screamed, the ring, without even having to say anything. She did not like the way Omkara looked at the ring and how bad it felt. Despite the incidents that had taken place three years ago that broke their relationship, Gauri still knew that she did not like a version of Omkara being in pain. It was somehow the most unacceptable situation that she had felt.

Although, she had convinced herself that she did not have anymore feelings for Omkara after his lack of trust in her; she very well knew the mischievous ways of heart. As a twenty-six year old, who had been in enough relationships to understand what emotions she could press down and what emotions she couldn't. But, this time, it was different. Unlike any of her previous relationships she had not mutually agreed on breaking the relationship or considering her and Yash's college affair she had not been left all alone, guilty, thinking that she was responsible for the incident. She was very clear on what had happened between Omkara and her; and the anger from the lack of trust her the then love, Omkara, had shown had not yet sufficed.
