"Hey, by the way Caroline is gone to friend's place tonight, wanna go out for dinner?" Lucas suggested.
I thought for a while and decided that it wouldn't be bad.
"Come on, it's not that bad to go out with your husband." He said.
"Of course, but don't mention that 'husband' thing. You know it's a deal." I reminded him.
"Can I not even tease you?" he asked, putting an arm around my neck as I chuckled and taking us both out of his office.
Yes, Lucas and I are married. He is my husband, not emotionally but legally. We had a deal between us. Lucas' wife had died a few years ago and about 2 years ago, he was diagnosed with a heart disease. He had absolutely no money to cure himself as he had given all his money and insurances in his wife's medications. And he couldn't exactly throw away his company for money.
Lucas and I used to be best friends and when I moved to LA, he was there to help me since I had no job, by Omkara's grace. He ran a fashion company in which I was his personal assistant. I decided to help him in return. I am a doctor, well used to be one and so I had a lot of medical insurances in my name. I decided to help Lucas by marrying him and turning them over to his name. He protested a lot but I didn't exactly wish to lose my best friend whom I had met after years or Caroline to lose her father right after she lost her mother at a young age. We were a married couple on paper but we lived in different houses.
Lucas and I had a very good understanding and connection and most importantly trust. A whole lot of trust, something that I and you-know-who never had.
Anyways, Lucas drove us to a shack. The place wasn't very crowded.
We were having a good conversation when somehow he landed on how boring I was.
Boring!?
I'm not BORING!
"Did you forget that you had to pick me and Steph up from a bar not too long ago? I am not boring!" I reminded him.
"Oh you were devastated yesterday, let's talk about other times. You are boring." he provoked me.
This is going to end up pretty nasty.
"If you weren't boring, you would go there to that man and leave your lipstick mark on his handkerchief." he challenged.
What in the world!
"What are we 14?" I asked.
"No, that's Caroline's age. Not wanting to do it is enough proof of being boring." he chuckled.
"Challenge?" I asked.
"Oh, please do take it as one. I'd love to see that." he said laughing.
Mr. Lucas James, you just challenged the wrong person.
"Oh, you challenged the wrong person Luke." I said as I got up and walked over to the table he had pointed earlier.
I walked over to the man and acted as if the glass kept on his table fell accidentally all over my dress.
Urgh, now my dress is wet! This man owes me a lot.
"I am so sorry, I didn't see it." I said rubbing off the water from my dress, acting obviously.
"Your dress is wet, here take this." he said and immediately offered his handkerchief.
"Thank you so much, you're such a gentleman." I said, fluttering my lashes.
I deserve an award for my amazing acting.
I wiped off the water with his handkerchief and then took it to my mouth and marked it with my lipstick. With a swift movement I turned the handkerchief and showed it to Lucus.
