Chapter 28: 57th Expedition Outside the Wall PT.1

After a restless night of just you and Levi talking, you both watched as the sun began to rise over the wall. You heard a knock at the door and someone's voice saying you only have ten minutes to get down with your squad in formation.

You both got up and changed in silence, not only were you nervous of losing Levi, but you forgot today is your first expedition as Captain.

After you were both ready in your cloaks, Levi stopped your hand as you reached for the door handle. He took your hand and held it in his. "Hey, look at me." and you looked up at him, "I'll see you after this right?" and you nodded. He pressed his lips to yours softly, "good." and he opened the door.

You both took off in separate directions, going each to your own squads.

'Don't look back... Don't look back... Don't look back.' You kept repeating to yourself, and you didn't.

You bumped into Hanjie as you weren't paying attention and she caught you, keeping you steady. "Woah, you okay there (Y/n)?" She let go of you seeing as you steadied.

"Yeah, sorry Hanjie, my mind was somewhere else." You admitted.

"Well make sure you stay focused out there, can't lose you now can we?" She was always so joyful before these things.

"We'll be right with you and ready to set the trap." You smiled at her.

"Great!" She jumped, "Now let's go before Erwin starts getting mad at us for being late." And you both walked to your squads.

All four of them were already on their horses, and you saw Sweety standing in the front of them all. That was your place now, the front. "You guys all have full gas?" You asked.

"Yes Captain!" They all shouted in unison.

"You all have flares?"

"Yes Captain!" You climbed on top of your horse.

"Good, now remember, we go in and try to avoid as many fights as we can, got it? We have one goal in this expedition and it's to help with Hanjie's traps and to help Erwin catch this Titan."

"Yes Captain!" and with that you all moved forward to your positions.

As your squad took their positions, Erwin turned to you and nodded, and you did the same, indicating that you were ready, your eyes began to search over where others were, you couldn't see Levi or Eren or the rest of the squad.

'Don't think about it... Don't think about it... Don't think about it.' You repeated to yourself, while closing your eyes.

As you heard the bell ring, your eyes shot open, "We've lured the nearby titans away! 30 seconds before the opening of the gate!" You heard someone shout. You inhaled deeply as Ava took her place next to you. You turned and smiled at her, and she returned it.

"It always freaked me out."

"Going on expeditions?" You asked, facing forward again.

"No," she now faced forward as well, "how excited you always get before you kill Titans." You couldn't even argue with her, you always had that rush of power grow over you when it came to killing them.

"Humanity is now about to take another step forward! Show us what you're made of." And you couldn't help but smile as everyone's blades and fists went in the air and shouted.

"Open the gate!" A man shouted and it rose.

"Forward!" Erwin yelled.

And you all took off.

"Now commencing the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission! Move out!" He yelled.

As you all rode forward, you began to think that it was times like these that you remembered why you loved being a part of the scouts so much. Every expedition was just one step closer to saving humanity, and nothing made you happier and got you more excited than knowing you were a part of that.
