Chapter 17: Jealousy

"So it was the Captain who admitted his feelings first?" Eren questioned, so enthusiastically.

"Yeah, it was hard to believe at first if I'm being honest, for a while I thought he just admitted his feelings for me to persuade me into joining." You said, finishing your plate of food.

"Really and why is that?"

"That's a story for another time." You were a little tired of storytelling today, and when you looked up you spotted Ava and Simon approaching you guys.

"Hey Captain, can we join you?" Simon asked. You nodded and they took their place in front of you and Eren.

"I'm Eren by the way." Eren introduced himself with a big smile.

"Yeah, you're the titan kid we're all counting on." You saw Eren tense up at Simon's comment.

"I'm Ava!" She shouted, "and this is Simon!" Eren nearly jumped out of his seat at how loud Ava was.

"Nice to meet you." Eren said and turned to you , and the other two now stared at you.

"We wanted to apologize-"

"It's not you who needs to apologize." You cut Ava off. "It's entirely Athen's and Ekho's fault, if they don't figure their shit out, then that's on them." 

"Wow, speaking like a true captain now." Ava said in awe. "But," she looked away from your gaze, "your wrong, it is our fault too." You perked up a bit, "We're a team now, and if one or two members are struggling then the others should be there to help." You could only stare at Ava as she struggled to look back in your eyes. Your lips curled up a bit. Ava was right, if they were struggling then it was up to the rest of them as a team to help them, including yourself.

"Ava," you started, but she still wouldn't look at you, "Ava," you repeated and she now looked up, "will you be my second in command?" Her jaw dropped with a little bit of food falling out of it.

"Uh- uh- wait... huh?" She looked at you like you were delusional or something, and you chuckled at her face.

"Be my second in command." You repeated.

"Oh! YES! YES! YES! I would be so honoured!" She shouted out with such excitement. Eren's head darted around at everyone who was looking. She ran across the table and tackled you into a hug, your body falling back on Eren's and he caught you to keep you balanced. "I really thought you were going to make your brother your second." She added.

"Well she made the right choice." You all turned to the voice behind you and Eren quickly pushed himself away from you and you fell back on the bench staring up at Levi.

You watched as he stared Eren down a bit and Eren stood up, "thank you for telling me more about your past Captain (Y/n)." He said, sounding nervous.

"No, thank you for keeping me company while I was going through it with my team." You smiled at him and he just nodded and practically ran out of the mess hall.

You watched him as he left and you looked up at Levi who watched him too. "Captain Meanie are you proud of me?" Ava smiled up at him.

"Tch, go back to your spot idiot." And she frowned at him and let you go, and walked back to where she sat before.

Levi took his spot next to you and sat with a thump, the bottom of his tea cup hitting the table hard. "Are you okay?" You whispered and he only glared at you. "Did I do something?" You asked.

"So, Ava, you're the second." He ignored you and looked at Ava. She nodded with a huge smile on her face with some food falling out of it. "That's nice." He gave her a sarcastic smile. Both you and Simon tensed up, something was not right with Levi.
