Chapter 15: Admitting Feelings

You were perched up in a tree, observing your squad and how they moved together. They were actually not doing too bad. Ava and Simon seemed to do well as a duo, but everything went to shit when Ekho and your brother came in.

They crashed into each other and landed on the ground. Without hesitation they both got up and grabbed each other by the collar and began to threaten one another.

You quickly hopped down from the tree and pushed them off of each other. "You two are a disgrace!" you yelled, looking at them both. "How could you guys still not know how to work together as a team when you practically grew up in the corps together!"

"It's all his fault-"

"Shut up!" you cut your brother off. "If you two don't figure out how to work together as a team by tomorrow, I'm cutting you from my squad."

They both stared at you in shock, your brother a little more, since he hasn't seen you like this in years.

"Captain?" You heard Ava's soft voice from behind you and you turned to her. "I'm not advising you against it or anything but... is it wise to kick members out so close to an expedition, you won't find replacements in time."

You turned away from her and back at the two men still sitting down "Erwin informed me there's a bunch of new rookies joining us tomorrow, I'll have plenty of replacements to choose from." You walked past the two idiots and headed back for the castle. "Keep practicing until the sun goes down!" You ordered, before being out of their sights.

You ran your fingers through your hair as you walked out of the stables only to run into Eren. Your bodies crashed into each other and you both fell to the ground.

"Shit, sorry Eren." You exclaimed and got up to help him.

"No it was my fault." He took your hand and stood up. You looked at him and he looked better today, not as exhausted as he usually does.

"You don't look as tired today." You smiled at him and he nodded.

"Yeah Hanjie gave me the day off from experimenting and the squad has it all together now." He saw your face sadden a bit. "But, you look very... uh, Levi-ie today." He stammered. Probably feeling like he had offended you.

"My squad is struggling a bit." You told him truthfully and sunked to the floor, your back pressed against the stable.

Eren took his place next to you, "Well, what are you going to do about it?" He asked.

"I don't know yet." You sighed, throwing your head back.

"Well that's a shame," you turned to Eren, "Everyone in the squad is going to be so disappointed to hear that." He looked at you now.

"What do you mean?" You asked, confused a bit.

"Well, everyone in the squad talks so highly of you. They were super excited for you to be Captain and they kept saying how they were glad there will finally be a squad just as strong as they are fighting along their side."

You looked down, feeling more disappointed in yourself. Your old squad had put so much faith in you too and now you've failed more people.

"Sorry!" you jumped at Eren's sudden apology, "that wasn't meant to put you down! It was meant as motivation." He waved his hands.

"It's okay," you said and stood up, "I'm starving, let's go get some food." You both stood and made your way to the mess hall.

Once you got your food, Eren sat next to you, but hesitated as he saw his squad eye him and Oluo giving him a warning glare.
