It's been a couple of days since Thierry "betrayed" Marcel and was sentenced to the garden. I'm currently at a bar called Rousseau's where Camille works apparently. I decide to strike up a conversation with her since it isn't that busy.

"Hey, I wanted to issue a formal apology on Rebekah inviting you to the masquerade party." I take a drink of my bourbon

"Yeah, it seems Rebekah wanted to get under some skin. Clearly, she had to use me to get that result." She wipes off the counter

"Rebekah can be a bit of a bitch. Marcel and her have a history and she's just jealous, with that being said, it will take a while to warm up to Rebekah."

"You don't say?" Camille chuckles

"Would you look at the time, Camille. I've got to go, it was nice talking." I look from my phone to her

"Please, call me Cami."

She smiles and I return it, walking out of the bar. I only make it down the sidewalk a few feet before Marcel comes to walk next to me.

"So Katherine, where are you heading?" He asks

"None of your business, Marcel." I snap

"Come on, no need to be so rude, Katherine. I was just asking a question." He smiles

I stop in my tracks and turn to him, with a very visible face of anger. I cross my arms and scowl at him until he says something.

"You know, Klaus said that he was staying at the King Royale hotel. What's interesting though is that when I asked to speak with Klaus, they said his suite has been empty for the past two weeks. Isn't that weird?" He smiles again

"Maybe you got the wrong suite number, however, who said Elijah and I were at the same place Klaus is?" I cock my head to the side

"You're the one who said you were living with him." He states

"No, no, you ASSUMED I lived with both of them. I stay with Elijah and Elijah only."

I decide to walk off. I thought he was done because it was a few minutes since we stopped talking. But of course, he catches back up to me, grabs my wrist, and pulls me into an ally. I quickly release myself from his grip and pin him to the brick wall by the neck.

"Don't you ever touch me like that again." I growl

"Woah, calm there. I was just trying to get your attention."

"Yeah, well grabbing me and pulling me into an ally isn't exactly the way. What do you want?" I ask again

"I'm sorry about what I told Klaus, I was just trying to get him focused on something other than his need to be King of New Orleans again." He apologizes with an excuse of course

"I've finally got my freedom and I kind of don't want to get killed yet when I haven't even gotten close to my revenge."

"I can still help with that, you can have access to Davina and anything else that you may need. Just accept my apology and let's move on." He smiles AGAIN

"I don't want your help anymore, Marcel. Find your own way to kill Klaus and I'll find my own way as well. Consider this as the day you lost my friendship."

I fake smile before I speed off, Marcel calling after me. I ignore him and when I'm finally out of hearing distance, I call Klaus. As the phone is ringing, I walk fast and pay attention to all of my surroundings, making sure no one is lurking about. Klaus answers with a tone of anger, I wonder what happened.

"Klaus, Marcel found out that you aren't staying at The King Royale." I state

"Is anyone following you?" He asks

"No, why?"

"Hurry up and get here. Make sure no one sees you." He demands before hanging up

I keep an eye out for anybody as I take a few extra steps to get back to the plantation, including taking a trip through the cemetery.

                                                                                       ***

I get back to the house and I'm immediately bombarded by Klaus and Elijah rushing me to come in. Before I can even sit down Klaus topples be with his questions.

"How did he know I wasn't staying there?" He starts

"He said that he went to talk to you at your suite and the clerk said it has been empty for two weeks."

"What did you tell him?" Elijah asks

"I basically told him that I was staying with Elijah at a different hotel, I didn't give a name though."

"That's at least good. Are you sure that no one followed you?" Klaus asks again

"I walked an extra two miles and made my way through the cemetery. If anyone was following, I lost them." I assure him

"It's not going to be long before Marcel finds out where we've been staying. Then he'll find out why I've been lying the whole time." He states

"Do you really think he'd harm Hayley?" I ask, concerned

"He won't hurt her, no. He has a rule about hurting children and since Hayley is pregnant, well the rest you can guess."

"Then why are you so worried about him finding this place?" Elijah questions

"Just because Marcel won't harm Hayley, doesn't mean someone else won't. I'm going to have to find a way to protect this house."

"Klaus, I'm here most of the time and so is Nadia. I'm sure two five-hundred-year-old vampires can beat two-century-year-old vampires." I suggest

"Let's not forget you have Elijah and Rebekah to help as well and your bite can kill any vampires who try to attack." Hayley makes her way into the kitchen

Klaus looks at us three when Rebekah walks in.

"Hey, why is everyone hanging out in the kitchen?"

"Marcel found out that we aren't staying at the hotel. You have any idea why?" Klaus questions her

"No, who would I tell him that?"

"I don't know Rebekah, you tend to tell people things when you're in love with them." Klaus says angrily

"Screw You, Nik. If you think I would do anything to jeopardize the safety of that baby, you're just as paranoid as I thought." She snaps, stomping upstairs

"Well, that went well." I say

"Katherine, shut up." Klaus says as he leaves the room
