She is Your Humanity: Chapter 18

I watch from the window as Elijah nails into the board, making the fence all brand new. I feel a small smile cross my face but quickly frown. 'You're only here for your safety, not for Elijah.' I think to myself. But no matter what my brain thinks my heart says bring that man some lemonade and that's exactly what I do. It's a minute or so walk before I get to him, his focus stuck on fixing the fence. After a second of me standing there in silence, he notices me and turns around, and looks down at the glasses in my hands. 

"I brought you something to drink. I figured that you'd be thirsty." I state, handing him one glass 

"Thanks, Katerina. You staying with me to drink yours?" He asks innocently 

I look down at my cup and then back up at him. I smile and take a sip of mine and he mirrors me doing the same. 

"I did bring my glass out here for a reason." I finally say

"Did you want to talk about something?" He asks, taking another sip of his drink 

"I have come to tell you that I am in fact a little less mad but I do think we should talk about your time with Hayley."

The moment Hayley's name comes out of my mouth he chokes on his drink and has to set it down on the ground to recover. I scoff and roll my eyes at what he's doing and I decide that this was a horrible idea. I take one more sip before I set the glass down and rush off, leaving Elijah to choke. 'This was so stupid' I mumble to myself as I walk back towards the house. Elijah catches up with me and grabs my arm, pulling me to look at him. 

"Katerina... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so dramatic, I just didn't think you wanted to talk about Hayley." He states, apologizing 

"Of course, I want to talk about it, Elijah! Why wouldn't I? I just wanna know exactly what caused you to change your mind about me." I roll my eyes 

"I haven't changed my mind, Katherine. But when you leave for six months what else am I supposed to do?" He asks 

I scoff once more as I snatch my arm out of his hand and turn away from him. I shake my head as I continue my way back to the house. I'm not bothered for a few seconds before I look up to Elijah standing right in front of me. 

"Stop running, Katerina. You wanted to talk about me and Hayley, let's talk about it then. Tell me what you want to know." 

"All I want to know is why you would tell me you want to get back together then sleep with her, that's all." I state as I bring my eyes to look up into his 

"Katerina..." He pauses and shakes his head "You can ask me anything but you can't ask me that. I'm not allowed to mention it to anybody." 

"I can not believe this, Elijah! How am I supposed to trust anything you say when you can't even tell me the truth!" I shout 

"Like I can trust anything you say, Katerina! How are you going to talk to me about the truth when you lied about trying to kill my brother?! " He shouts back 

My mouth drops open and his eyes immediately widen at what he just said and I can tell it just slipped out but it doesn't stop me from being pissed. I shake my head once more as he just looks at me. 

"Katerina I-" 

"Screw you, Elijah. That man killed my family! He took EVERYTHING away from me, my family, my life, you. You want to be with Hayley, be my guest, I'll make sure I'm out of your way!" 

I exhale a huge breath and turn away once more and start back to the house... again. 'What a dick' I mumble to myself as I walk, leaving Elijah by his lonesome. I only get as far as the barn when I'm stopped in my place by three simple words. 

"She's getting married." 

After he finishes I turn around and take a look at his face... nothing but sadness. The moment his eyes meet mine he takes a look towards the ground. I'm still very pissed so the next thing I do really surprises me... I walk up to him, pull his head up to look at me, and I bring him into a hug. He's reluctant to hug me back but after a few moments finally wraps his arms around my waist. He nuzzles his face into my neck and inhales before letting out a breath. He looks back up into my eyes and places his hand on my cheek, running his thumb along my lower lip. 

"Katerina..." He mumbles, never breaking eye contact 

I bring my hand up to the back of his head and run my fingers through his hair, looking deep into his eyes. I lift my chin up to reach his face and softly place my lips onto his and with just that little touch... the fireworks resume. I drawback and we make eye contact once more but this time Elijah has a smile on his face. 

"This doesn't mean I'm not pissed anymore but let's just be in the moment, hm?" I ask, raising a brow 

He doesn't say anything as he just lets a little chuckle slip from his throat and I shake my head at it. Elijah doesn't let me say anything when his lips crash into mine and he pulls me by the waist into himself, a moan escaping him. Without hesitation I go straight for his shirt, unbuttoning it and tossing it straight to the ground. Without moving away from the kiss, Elijah places both hands under my thighs and lifts me up, speeding me over to the barn, my back against the wall. He rips my shirt off as he lays kisses down my neck, making me moan. 

"I love you, Katerina." He mumbles into my neck, sending vibrations through me 

"I know..." I smile "Now shutup and just kiss me." I say jokingly and that's exactly what he does.

Elijah and I just lay there on the bare floor of the barn with my head on his chest, him drawing circles on my skin as he smiles, a blanket puddled around us. I cuddle closer to him as I feel the vibrations of him breathing through his chest.

"You know what, Katerina?" He asks, looking down towards me

"And what is that, Elijah?" I answer

"I don't think I could ever let you go, ever again." He states

I can't help but let the smile slowly ease over my face as I look up at him and place a kiss on his lips. I grab the blanket and sit up, wrapping it around my chest and he sits up with me. We look at each other once more and when we do, a strand of my hair falls in front of my eyes and Elijah slowly swipes it away and tucks it behind my ear.

"Marry me, Katerina." He says and my jaw drops in shock "Look before you say anything. I know what I did with Hayley was wrong and I-I am so sorry, please for-"

Before he can say one more word I smash my mouth against his and drag him down on top of me as I smile up at him.

"Yes, I'll marry you."

Elijah is about to say something when we both turn to the sound of slow clapping, a familiar laugh bursting our bubble.

"Congratulations, Little Brother."

"Finn Mikaelson." I groan

"Hello there, Katherine. I have been looking for you guys everywhere." He states, smiling
