Chapter 10

We get back to the house and Hayley is sitting in the kitchen with Elijah. Rebekah has the bags in her hands as she sets the bags on the counter.

"You know, you could have helped me." 

I turn to face her and smile "I could have, but I didn't want to." I turn back to Hayley and Elijah 

"Katerina..." Elijah looks at me with a stern face 

I start walking towards them and I place a kiss on Elijah's lips. "I can't help it. I love watching her and Klaus squirm." I giggle 

"Speaking of squirming; the last time I saw Elijah kissing a doppelganger, she was my girlfriend." Klaus chimes in 

"You sure know how to make an entrance." My smile goes away at the thought of Tatia 

I go to walk off when Elijah grabs me by the waist and pulls me into him. He lowers his head to mine and whispers in my ear. 

"I love you." 

I nod my head at the gesture and move out of his grasp towards the paper bags set on the counter by Rebekah. I unpack some of the food and start putting it in the fridge when I hear Elijah reprimand Klaus.

"What in the hell Niklaus?" He sounded angry 

"What? I was just saying what's on my mind." 

"Oh bloody hell, here we go again." Rebekah exhausts 

"Will you guys shut up?!"

I raise my voice, slamming down the jug of milk, busting it. I take in a deep breath and look towards Klaus and Elijah. 

"Tatia was a good for nothing whore." I state 

"YOU WATCH YOUR MOUTH WHEN TALKING ABOUT HER!" Klaus shouts, inches away from my face

"Or what? What are you gonna do, kill my entire family? Oh wait, you've already done that." 

I stomp off and up the stairs to my room. 

Elijah's POV

"Who's Tatia?" Hayley asks, clearly confused 

"She was someone..." I pause in my statement 

"She was someone that Klaus and Elijah loved very much, until our mother took her from them and turned us all into vampires." Rebekah speaks for me 

"Come on, Rebekah. Let's not spare her the truth. Tatia and I were... let's say, together. Little did I know she was also "together" with Elijah. We fought over her and my mother punished us by taking her away. I've been over it for a long time now." Klaus adds in 

"You obviously aren't that over it or you wouldn't have yelled at Katherine like that." Rebekah says more 

"She doesn't know the story, she should shut her mouth about Tatia." 

"Niklaus, stop!" I raise my voice 

"You know what Nik. Katherine is completely right, Tatia played with both you and Elijah's feelings." 

"Since when did you become so nice to her?" Klaus asks Rebekah 

"There is a wrong and a right, and you were wrong." 

"She should watch her mouth next time, she has no right." He pauses 

"No! You have no right. You killed her family, you've chased her down for five hundred years, you have basically ruined any chance of happiness for her, you took away her freedom. Disrespect my girl again and me and you, are done." 

"Now, Elijah." Rebekah pleads 

"No, Rebekah. Niklaus, I don't say this much but I love you. I suggest you make nice with Katerina, Niklaus. I won't have you disrespect her again." 

I walk off into the room and see Katherine sitting on the bed. She's just looking at her hands as she twiddles her thumb. 

"How much of that did you hear?" I ask 

"I heard all of it. Look, I'm sorry about what I said about Tatia. I literally did the same thing with the Salvatore's back in 1864." She gets up off the bed 

"That's the difference between you and Tatia. She lied to both Niklaus and I about her true feelings. Niklaus had no right to talk to you like that, he's already taken so much from you." 

I walk closer to her and place my hand on her cheek. She look up at me and just smiles.

"Elijah... his yelling doesn't scare me. He doesn't scare me, but I don't want to be another Tatia. I already look exactly like her, I'm NOT going to be the reason that there is a wedge between you and your brother." She states 

"There has been a wedge ever since he daggered everyone of us and said he through their bodies at sea. I'm hoping this baby will be a good change for him, for us. I want us to be a family again, and for you to be in it." I lean my forehead against hers 

"You know, Elijah." She goes to straighten my tie 

"Yes, Katerina?"

"I was going to go back downstairs, but I was thinking..." 

I automatically smile and I immediately pick her up off the ground. She lets out a giggle before I get her to the bed. 

"I really should go start breakfast." She smiles against my lips 

"Breakfast can wait. Right now, I can't." 

*some time later* 

Katherine's POV

I go back downstairs with a smile on my face. I make my way to the kitchen where I know everybody is probably still at. I know nobody is saying anything because there is dead silence before I even walk into the room. I keep the smile on my face and keep my head high as I walk into the kitchen. Once I get in there Rebekah turns to me.

"I see you went from mad to happy real quick." Rebekah greets me with a smile 

"I have my ways." Elijah enters behind me 

Klaus sits and silence before he slowly turns to me. "Look, Katherine. It has come to my attention that you and Elijah are... serious. You aren't going away anytime soon and I would like to-" I stop him right there 

"Give me my freedom?" I raise my brow 

"That's not where I was going with that." He gets off the chair 

"Oh, I think it was. What you're gonna do is give me my freedom and in no way will you take back that freedom, because its mine. K?" 

I turn around and smile at Elijah. "Good girl." He winks at me 

"Did you guys rehearse this or something?" Hayley asks 

I just laugh at her and move to the fridge. "So Hayley? What do you and your child want for breakfast?"
