Pareho kaming nakatingin sa mata ng isa't isa. He signaled me to speak so I cleared my throat silently and turn around to face her and act as if everything is normal.
"I thought you were with Forest?" I asked innocently.
"Yeah but he said he wants to be alone." Bumaling ang tingin nito sa ama tapos ay yumuko. "Hindi ko alam na narito pala kayo."
Nagkatinginan kami ng ama niya. Umakto itong okay lang. "Yeah. I can't even believe you were here."
Binalingan ako ni Nhyl ng tingin ngunit nagkibit balikat lang ako. "You know Wyatt d-dad?"
"Yeah. We encountered in business." Seryosong tugon ng ama niya. Niluwagan pa ang necktie na suot na kunwari ay parang wala lang ngunit ramdam kong hindi siya mapakali.
"I...m sorry. Sorry kung hindi ako nakarating. M-may biglaang nangyari eh." Hindi makatinging sabi niya.
"It's okay. Anyway I have to leave." Lumapit siya kay Nhyl at hinalikan ito sa noo bago umalis.
Napatitig si Nhyl sa likuran ng ama bago ibaling ang tingin sa akin. I can't help not to feel guilt when I saw the sadness in her eyes. "Do you think may father still mad at me?"
"Of course not."
"But he's so cold towards me."
"I can see that he loves you. Also parents forgives no matter how big mistakes we did so I am sure he's not mad at you."
She glared at me as if she wants to kill me. I gulped. I know what she'll say next. "It was all your fault. If you didn't kidnapped me he won't treat me like that."
I sighed. "I know but... why you did not tell him the truth?"
Para siyang napipilan dahil sa tanong ko. Even me just realize that. Why she did not tell him when she have all the chance.
"B-because... I... I don't want another trouble! Yeah that's it. Paano kung ikulong ka niya tapos patayin mo siya?"
For the first time I don't know why that question offended me. I kinda feel... disappointed and hurt. I shook the thought away and I gave her me sweetest smile.
"What do you want to do today?" I asked trying to erase the uncomfortable atmosphere around us.
She acted thinking. "Ewan, wala naman akong alam na puntahan. How about treat me on a restaurant? Yung masasarap ang pagkain."
"Wait me here then. Magpapaalam lang ako kay Logan." Sabi ko sabay lapit at hinalikan siya sa noo bago siya iwan.
NHYL's POV
Napatitig ako sa likod ni Wyatt na papalayo na. I'd been bad to him but he never hurt me. All he did is to please me.
Lihim kong binatukan ang sarili nang maalala na naman ang sinabi ko sa kaniya kanina. Bakit ba hindi ko mapigil ang sariling magsalita ng masama laban sa kaniya? Nagbuntong hininga ako.
Teka, bakit ba ako nagi-guilty eh hindi ko naman dapat 'to nararamdamaan? Because I'm falling for him. What the hell, saan iyon galing? Falling? Huh! Never. He was always trying to rape me before! Tama kaya hindi ako dapat mahulog sa kaniya.
"What is going on in that pretty mind of yours?"
Muntik na akong mapatalon sa gulat dahil sa tanong na iyon. Nilingon ko ang nagmamay-ari niyon ng tinig. Isang magandang babae na itim na itim ang tuwid niyang buhok kasama ang lalaking nakatingin lang sa cellphone niya.
She stared at me intently. "Ngayon lang yata kita nakita rito. Do you know this place is not for innocent people?"
