Thane ended up staying with Marco for the night. It was better than paying for a hotel room for a single night. In the morning, he bid farewell and hit the shops in the center of town. While there, he tried anything to cheer up his saddened companion. By the end, Embit and Twittle were so high on sugar that they had forgotten about yesterday's fight, and Embit about his lack of ability to evolve. Unfortunately, this made it harder to made it harder for them to behave in public, and a few people kept shooting them dirty looks, much to Thane's embarrassment.
Embit also passed the time by taking out his sadness in a battle against another Embit, winning Thane some money. Using this money, Thane bought some Loomian-resistant clothes to avoid them getting torn to shreds again. Luckily, he was able to make his purchase before Embit and Twittle got all of them kicked out after they made a mess of the sleepwear section of the store.
Now, Embit and Twittle leaned against Thane's side, napping. The sugar had finally worn off, and Aiden told himself to never feed them that level of sugar again. Taking the opportunity, he dialed his parents. After the fight with Duskit, he made sure to call back and let them know he was okay, as he had hung up abruptly, but he had forgotten to tell them about his theory. "Hey, Sweetie. Everything alright?" His mother greeted him. "Hey, mom. Uh, listen, the stone I sent back, has it done anything strange?" The holographic image of his mother raised an eyebrow. "No, why?" She asked. "Just making sure, it's not normal, you know. I, uh, I'm going to keep traveling and see if I'm right about it. Just stay safe around it, okay? Tell Dad and Uncle Derrick to be careful."
He hung up and sighed. The notion of the stone causing Duskit to go berserk just wouldn't go away. It kept clawing at his mind and the implications made him shake. He had to know more, he had to keep going. He had to find the remaining seven stones and a cure for Embit. He got up from the bench and recalled a sleeping Twittle into her disc so she could rest. Then, he picked up a sleeping Embit and began walking. He was ready to leave, but he still didn't have a tent even though he spent a good hour looking through every shop for one! Whatever, Thane would deal with it later.
Embit quickly woke up from all the movement and perched himself on Thane's shoulder. He had come down from the sugar high and was once again somber. Thane sighed internally and scratched Embit behind the ear to a minimal reaction. He really needed to find a cure, but Marco said there was none. Thane couldn't give up on it though. He had to give his friend his evolution back.
As Thane neared the Cheshma Town Trainer School, a commotion caught his eye. The doors burst open and three students were forced outside, trailed by a furious-looking teacher. Never one to pass up on some gossip, Thane stopped and listened closely. Embit, just as interested as his trainer also froze and listened. Finally, something to distract him. Thane thought.
Thane watched as the teacher began to scold the three students. "Never, never in my twelve years of teaching had I ever had to deal with such disruptive and disrespectful students like you three!" As Thane got closer he could make out the features of the three of them. One of the girls had short curly, orange hair, green eyes, and pale skin with freckles. She wore a sleeveless back and orange dress with black shoes. Thane guessed that the other two, a boy and a girl, were twins. They both had blonde and green eyes. The boy had short, messy hair he kept under an orange and black cap. He, along with his sister both wore black and orange shorts and a grey hoodie. His sister tied her hair in two pigtails and had a bandage on her nose. The girls looked on in defiance, the boy looked a little guilty.
Orange-hair scoffed when the teacher threatened to call their parents. "Don't bother, we aren't coming back." The blonde girl was quick to pipe up. "Yeah! We only came here because Mabel's mom made her!" She said snarkily. The boy opened his mouth next. "Yeah, we only came here to support our friend." He said in a more respectful tone. His sister took a step forward. "If she goes, we go!" The teacher threw his hands up in exasperation. "Fine by me! The other students might be able to get things done!"
