"Isn't this nice?" Thane asked his Loomians as they ate lunch, sandwiches. The two let out noises of approval and kept eating. Embit ate with decency, but Twittle was a slob, and when he caught her eyeballing his food, Embit made sure to put himself in between her and his meal. Meanwhile, Thane was crocheting accessories for his Loomians. For Embit, a golden little bandana, and for Twittle, orange cuffs that would go around her talons. He sat on a rock, focused on his work, and his Loomians were focused on their food. None of them noticed the Geklow peeking at them from behind a tree, her eyes trained on the LoomiWatch on Thane's wrist. She could sense the Soul Crystal inside, and she wanted it.
Thane was nearly done with the tiny scarf. Suddenly, he looked up when he heard footsteps approach rapidly. He yelped as a Geklow came out of nowhere and tackled him off the rock, ruining the scarf. "Hey!" Thane exclaimed as he jumped up. Then he gasped when he noticed the LoomiWatch in Geklow's hand. He looked down at his wrist, his watch was gone. "Get it!" Thane commanded as he looked up to see Geklow trying to get away.
Twittle swooped down with Peck, but Geklow jumped back just in time, and Twittle slammed into the ground. Embit quickly rushed in with more speed than Geklow expected and landed a solid kick to her chest, sending her flying back, but her grip on the watch was like iron. By then, Twittle had recovered, and was offended by the fact that a foe would dare dodge her attack. She took off into the air and flapped her wings, faster, faster, and faster until a strong gust of wind kicked up around her. A new move! Thane realized. Gust! Twittle launched her new move at Geklow, but due to her Electric typing, it barely did anything.
With a chorus of cries, Embit and Twittle rushed Geklow at the same time, but it ended with them colliding with each other as she jumped back quickly. Thane winced when his Loomians hit the ground. "You guys okay?" Thane asked as he rushed to check on them. When he confirmed that they were okay, he looked up and scanned the area with his eyes. The Geklow was gone. Thane let out a groan. "Come on guys, we have to find it," Thane said as he stood up. Embit nodded and brought his nose to the ground, sniffing. Finally, he looked back at Thane and cried out. "You have the scent?" Embit nodded and quickly grabbed his stuff, shoving it into his bag and pulling out a Capture Disc. "Let's get my watch back, and catch a new Loomian."
Thane and Twittle followed Embit, who in turn, followed his nose for a few minutes until a voice called out to them. "Hey!" They all turned to the entrance of what Thane assumed was a mine. There was a cave entrance with a rail going into it. A minecart was on the tracks, filled with golden dust, Soul Crystal dust. A miner, covered in dirt and the same golden dust called out to them. He was leaning against a large rock and had a cigarette in one hand.
"Yes, sir?" Thane asked politely as they approached. "If you're looking for that Geklow, it went that way." He said while pointing. "You're the third person this week that damned Geklow stole from. If you don't worry, it will destroy your watch." He warned. Thane nodded. "Thank you, sir!" He said before turning quickly, and accidentally tripped on Embit who stood right behind him. Embit scrambled out of the way and Thane managed to catch himself on the minecart before he faceplanted. The disc flew from his hand and into the Soul Crystal dust. Thane laughed it off to mask his embarrassment and quickly fished the disc from the cart of dust and hurried off in the direction the man had pointed and Embit's nose.
The group moved quickly behind Embit's nose, until finally, they tracked Geklow down. Like a cartoon, Thane and his Loomians peeked out from behind a large rock one by one and peeked out toward Geklow. It sat on the ground, fiddling with the watch. Thane didn't know what it had done, and he wasn't too keen to let it continue. "Let's get it!"
At those words, Embit was the first to spring into action. He pulled off a quick Burrow to bolster his defense, and jumped out. He got the jump on Geklow, tackling it to the ground with Pounce before pelting it up close with bursts of fire. He stumbled back in pain as Geklow let out Shine. Embit tried to blink, but his vision had been assaulted violently, and that gave Geklow an opening to use Spar, sending Embit flying back.
"Twittle!" Thane called and she was about to fly in to help when Embit turned back and growled furiously. He would not let her help, he refused help from anyone. Embit turned back in time to see Geklow building up a small ball of electricity in its hands before firing Static Shock at him. Embit quickly conjured up and fired Singe, the attacks meeting each other and sending up a small cloud of smoke filled with yellow sparks. Then, Embit took off quickly tearing through the smoke with Pounce, landing a solid blow to Geklow.
Geklow went flying back and onto its stomach. Embit turned back and let out an angry cry at Thane, despite his high-pitched voice, yet, Thane understood. He raised the Capture Disc, ready to throw it at Geklow. Suddenly, Geklow's nose picked up a sweet and tangy smell. It was the Soul Crystal dust from the minecart that the disc had fallen in. Immediately, driven by the scent of food, Geklow sprang to its feet and took off towards Thane. Everyone let out cries of surprise as Geklow willingly made contact with the disc, everyone oblivious to the fact that it was after the dust. Instead, it was pulled into the disc, and the catching process began.
The disc shook a total of three hands, the vibrations traveling up Thane's arm like ocean waves. Then, Geklow was caught. From the ground, Thane's LoomiWatch let out a beep, and a blue light washed over the Capture Disc. Geklow hadn't destroyed it after all. Thane went over and scooped up his watch, and opened the Loomipedia app.
"Geklow, the Lizard Loomian. It is an Electric and Light type, and the pre-evolved form of Eleguana. Geklow feast on a special mineral found within their habitat. Their bodies convert this into a glowing substance that secretes from their skin." Thane clicked the screen and the detailed information about his new Geklow appeared. It was female, and she had the ability Lightning Rod, which could come in handy when fighting other electric types. She knew three moves, Static Shock, Spar, and Shine.
Thane looked up at his two Loomians. "Look, guys!" He said holding the disc up to them, allowing them to sniff and inspect it. "A new friend!" Twittle and Embit cheered. Embit had seemingly settled back into his happy-go-lucky personality, something Thane was glad about. He did wonder though, would Embit keep acting this way? Acting more ferocious in battle? Was it to cope with the fact he couldn't evolve? Thane pushed those thoughts to the side for the moment and set his bag on the ground. He opened it and looked for medicine, but turned up empty.
"Crap, we're out of medicine." He stood back up and pulled out Twittle's Capture Disc. "We're going to have to head into town to get you guys to the Loomian Trainer Station. Twittle, for now, get some rest in your disc." He ordered as he recalled her. Then he turned to Embit, "Come on buddy." Embit nodded enthusiastically and jumped onto Thane's shoulder. While the Loomian messed with his hair, Thane opened up the Map App to see how far they were off from Silvent City. He bit his lip and looked up to the setting sun when he saw the distance. Had that much time really passed by? He turned back to Embit. "If we run, we should get there about right after sundown." Embit looked at his friend, unsure. Thane laughed. "Come on buddy! Hang on tight!" With that, Thane was off, sprinting across the grass.
