"Use Gust!" Thane ordered. Twittle let out a cry and flew high above Slugling before flapping her wings rapidly, sending blades of air raining down. Slugling was sent flying back as it was knocked out. Thane and his opponent shook hands and Thane received his prize money before setting off again.
Thane walked for a few minutes before taking a seat on a rock at the edge of the river that ran through the cavern. He sighed as he pulled Geklow's disc from his backpack strap and fiddled with it for some time. He let out a long sigh and tapped the release button, sending Geklow out.
Geklow appeared in the standard flash of blue to Thane's side. The Loomian cocked her head to the side and stared up at her trainer. Thane signed again. "Geklow, are you happy?" He asked plainly. Geklow just stared up at him with her trademark blank expression. "Look, Geklow, all you want to do is eat and sleep. The only way I can get you to battle is by bribing you with food, and whenever you do battle, you don't follow my orders, you get into fights with the others." Geklow just continued to stare. "It doesn't look like you're happy, but I want you to remember that you caught yourself." Thane paused for a moment before continuing. "We're not far from Route three. If you're not happy and want to go back home, just say the word before we get too far."
Thane didn't know how Geklow would react to the offer, but she just stayed sedentary and kept wearing her blank expression. After a few moments of the two staring at each other, Geklow clicked her disc and sent herself back in. Thane sighed and stood back up. He had no idea what he was going to do with her, but he did know someone who could help.
"Hey, Mom." Thane greeted as Lauren answered the call. "Hey, sweetie, is something wrong?" She asked as she noticed his expression. "Uh, yeah, I need your help with one of my Loomians. My Geklow isn't listening to me, I don't think she likes me or Embit or Twittle at all." Lauren pondered this for a moment. "Where did you catch it?" She asked. "Route three," Thane replied simply. Lauren thought for a moment. "Okay, the best way to befriend your Loomian is to show it you care, pamper her a little, help her learn a new move." She listed off. "Do anything to show you care about her, this almost always breaks through a Loomian, it could take some time though." Thane nodded. "I asked her if she wanted to go back to the wild." "And?" "She went back into her disc without answering." Lauren thought for a moment. "Maybe she's looking for a reason to stay. I wouldn't stray too far from Route Three until you break through to her or she tells you she wants to be released." Thane nodded, "Okay, thank you."
Thane hung up the call and thought about the advice he had just been given as he twirled Geklow's disc in his finger. Show her that he cared. He had already done that! Multiple times in fact! Thane groaned as he wondered what he could possibly do to win his disobedient Loomian over. Maybe he could try teaching her a new move?
Before Thane could dwell more on his thoughts, he jumped as he heard the sound of thunder ripping the sky open. When Thane looked up, his face became dotted with drops of water, running down his cheeks like rivers. "Come on." Thane groaned. Embit quickly took a position under Thane's jacket as the boy quickly raced back to the giant cavern. Luckily he hadn't strayed too far from the cavern and his backpack was waterproof so his supplies were still dry, unfortunately, his clothes were not.
With Embit's help, Thane was able to get a campfire started, and he sent out all his Loomians. While his team ate, Thane got into dry clothes and set his wet outfit near the fire for it to dry off. Once he set up his tent he joined his Loomians for dinner. "Alright guys, here's what we're going to do." Thane began through slurps of ramen. "We're going to clear Route Four and Five, get trained up for the second Battle Theatre in Heiwa Village." He slurped more of his ramen. "I'm not actually sure when we'll get another update about the stone." Thane trailed off when he realized the confusion on Geklow's face. It was probably the most emotion she had shown all day. Thane chuckled slightly. "Right, Geklow, you're part of the team now so I should explain it to you..."
