Loomian Legacy Veils of Shadow

Thane's world had abruptly gone black. He couldn't see, but he could hear, and he could feel. He could hear the twisted laugh of pleasure of the Clank that had done to this. But there was an even worse sound. The panicked cries of his friends and Loomians. Geklow, and Embit. If he wasn't in excruciating pain, he might have found comfort that at the very least, Paratweet and Slugling hadn't witnessed this.

Yet, there was something even worse than the sounds, and that was the feeling. He could feel the cold and hard metal inside his eye sockets. He could feel something warm and slick running down his face from his eyes. The feeling made him want to vomit. The worst feeling though, was feeling nothing. He couldn't feel his eyes anymore, just the cold metallic fingers jammed into his eye sockets.

That did it. Thane vomited unexpectedly, spraying the man. The man cried out in disgust as he stepped back, looking down at his ruined clothing. Another wave of pain swept through Thane as the man quickly removed his cybernetic fingers from his eye sockets and he fell to the floor. Luckily, Jake had managed to catch him and gently set him down on the floor, not that Thane could tell it was Jake.

Immediately, Lucas and Lucy rushed to Thane's side, their cries of worry washed over Thane, but he couldn't hear them. Not anymore, his world was consumed with pain.

While Thane's friends tended to him, the Loomians sprung into action with rage. Embit was the first. He leaped over everyone and landed a powerful Hop Kick to the man's stomach, sending him flying back and gasping for air. Embit whirled around and used Ear Slap to grab onto a furious Geklow. He swung her around and towards the man so she could land a Tase. The man tried to stand, only to be met by Kabunga's Petal Pummel, which forced him back down. Embit fired Fire Breath, and Whispup Singe, keeping the man pinned down.

In his rage, Embit's ears shot forward, slamming into the man. The man let out a cry of pain, but Embit wasn't done. Embit leaped forward as the man tried to stand. The man gripped a windowsill, trying to steady himself. However, Embit had used his careless action to kick the man's head into the window, causing it to explode in a shower of glass and cries of pain.

Embit would have kept going if a pair of hands hadn't grabbed him. "Embit, stop!" Lucas cried, but the Loomian didn't want to listen. All Embit could see was red. Lucas kept pleading for Embit to calm down. "Embit, we need to get help for Thane!" At this, the small Loomian finally stopped squirming. He picked up on the anguish in Lucas' voice. The uncontrollable heartbeat. The others were scared and worried just as much as he was. Upon realizing this, Embit finally calmed down.

"What do we do?" Lucy asked a panicked Jake as she bent over Thane. Thane was groaning, still conscious, but nonresponsive. Blood had stopped pouring from Thane's eyes, leaving two empty sockets and a face covered in blood that flowed down into his silver hair and onto the pavement. In all his travels, in all his life-or-death fights, Jake had never seen anything like this. Not even during the final battle against Hoopa. He didn't know what to do. He never knew what to do.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone, a Scorb watched the chaotic scene. Everything it saw was being sent back to POLUT Campus. It was an opportunity. The man who was viewing the bloody scene, Meredin, realized. This was the opportunity that Dr. Vanta had instructed him to keep an eye out for.

Back at POLUT Campus, Meredin kept an eye on the video feed as he contacted Dr. Vanta. A few moments later, the man answered.

"What is it, Meredin? It better be important." Dr Vanta started with a blank expression as he answered the call and his face appeared on the monitor. "We have nearly discovered a way to use the stone from the sky to bring Protogon to life, and make it better and more powerful than our standard Soul Crystal-powered Loomians." Meredin cleared his throat. "Sir, it is the boy you wanted me to keep tabs on, to get the good graces of his parents." Vanta looked intrigued. "Well, what have you discovered."
