The day was beautiful. Route 7 was beautiful and naturally pristine across the bridge leading to Sepharite City. The air was fresh and the grass was a lush green. There was no trash in sight.
Three of the five teenagers stood to the side. They and all the other Loomians were spectators to the battle in front of them. The twins and the Loomians were entranced by the battle, but Mabel was too busy staring at Jake to pay attention to the battle between Thane and his Embit versus Jake and his Searknight. Unbeknownst to the group, however, there were two unknown spectators. Whispup, who hid in Thane's shadow, was entranced by the battle and was cheering for Thane. Then, there was Yuto. The boy remained hidden, out of sight, even from Whispup.
Yuto had hoped to never run into the boy who had ruined everything, but here he was. It was just his luck that he would stumble upon Thane and his new friends as he was passing through the area. He considered leaving but had found himself staying to watch the battle between the two boys.
"Use Power Focus, then Fire Slam!" Thane ordered. Embit glared as he powered up and his attack power heightened. "Searing Steel!" Searknight pulled his arm back and his fist became coated in a dark gray aura. When Embit charged, he did so at a neck-break speed. Searknight was ready, however. Before Embit could land his attack, a giant fist collided with his small body and sent him flying back and onto his back on the grass.
Everyone winced while Mabel cheered. Meanwhile, Whispup stared in anxiety for Thane and Embit. Yuto was just watching emotionlessly.
"Rapid Fire!" Jake ordered. "Dodge it!" Searknight punched the air and sent half a dozen small bursts of fire shooting forward and toward Embit. The small Loomian quickly scrambled to his feet and jumped back. He twirled through the air and shot Ear Slap into the dirt to send him flying back and away from Rapid Fire. All Rapid Fire managed to accomplish was singe the green grass.
"Fire Breath!" Embit flipped back to his feet and opened his mouth and fired a powerful stream of fire that singed the grass below and burned the air directly into Searknight. The large Loomian grunted in discomfort and took a step back. "Searing Steel, again!" Jake commanded. Searknight pulled his arm back and struck the flames with enough force to disperse fire breath. Thane and Embit gasped as scattered embers were carried away by the wind
"Searing Steel!" Jake repeated. With surprising speed, Searknight was in front of Embit before he could react. Thane cried out in shock, and all Embit could do was look up. His blue eyes widened as he let out a gasp of shock and reverence as Searknight stared down at his unevolved counterpart with a raised fist. Time seemed to slow as the two Loomians stared at each other. Thane could suddenly see every detail in his Embit and Jake's Searknight. The tiny embers flew from their fur, how the fur glistened in the sunlight, the icy blue of their eyes. Then, Searknight brought his fist down, and it collided with Embit's body in a Searing Steel attack.
Embit cried out in pain as the giant fist slammed him into the ground and knocked him out. Grass and dirt flew out and everyone on the sidelines, Whispup included, winced at the force of the attack. Mabel just cheered. Lucas cleared his throat and declared Jake the winner.
Both boys rushed to their Loomians. Jake began to administer some medicine to Searknight whereas Thane scooped Embit into his arms. Then, the group's newly appointed medic, Lucy took Embit from Thane so she could nurse him back to health. Jake returned Searknight to his disc and the two boys walked up to each other and congratulated one another for their performance. Meanwhile, Whispup watched with slight sadness at Thane's loss. Yuto just stared impassively at Thane. Anger surged through the boy, but for now, he just turned and walked away.
After Lucy had healed Embit, Lucas suggested going back into the city for lunch. Mabel groaned. "Do we have to go back to Sepharite? That place is disgusting!" Thane nodded. "I'm with her on this one. I don't think eating at any restaurant in that town is safe." After Lucas was unanimously outvoted by both his friends and Loomians, even his own, the group set to work on making food.
