By the time Thane finally reached the top of the steps, he took a moment to catch his breath. He hadn't expected to be that out of breath. The moment the group had stepped into Route 5 and laid eyes on the daunting steps, Geklow immediately retreated into her disc. Thane was the only one who dealt with the brunt of the challenge of climbing. Geklow was in her disc, Embit rode on his shoulder, and Twittle just flew on ahead of them, pecking at the ground while waiting.

After Thane had finally caught his breath, Geklow popped out of her disc and Thane just stared at her. He stood back up and brushed the grass from his pant knees. "Alright," Thane started while opening up the navigation app on his watch. "We'll be able to reach Heiwa Village by tomorrow morning." Every member of the team cheered. "But I want us to stay out here for a day or two, to camp out and train." They all slumped down and groaned. Thane crossed his arms and looked down at his Loomians. "Come on guys, that's the fun of being on a journey! Camping out and sleeping under the stars!" His team didn't look so sure. Thane looked forward and smiled. "Come on guys! Let's go find a place to set up camp and introduce ourselves to our new friend!" Thane said as he pulled out the disc containing Slugling, and the group started walking.

They walked until the group stumbled upon a nice, small clearing near one of the hot springs, but Thane made sure to keep his distance as he saw the shells of Ventacean sticking out of the water. "Alright guys, I want you to stay away from the hot springs. Ventacean live in there and I don't any of you to get hurt." His eyes stayed on Geklow a little bit longer to make sure that he got his point across. Embit and Twittle giggled and Geklow looked up at Thane indignantly.

Once camp was set up, Thane made everyone gather around as he pulled out the disc containing the newly caught Slugling. "Are right guys." He started. "We have a new teammate, Slugling." He said while holding out the disc for them to examine. "So, let's give him a nice welcome!" He exclaimed excitedly as he tossed the disc into the air.

The disc popped in a flash of blue and on the ground appeared Slugling. He looked around, taking in his new surroundings before looking up at his new trainer. His eyes sparkled with fire, and something else. Respect maybe? One of Slugling's vines extended upwards and towards Thane's hand. It took Thane a moment to realize that he wanted to shake his hand. He didn't realize Slugling would know a human custom. Thane quickly took the vine in his hand and Slugling gave it a firm shake out of pure respect. Then Slugling turned to Embit and did the same. When he finally turned to Geklow and Twittle, he did no such thing, but curled his little horns forward as if to bow politely. Neither of them had beaten him in combat, and as such, had not won his respect yet, but that didn't mean Slugling would be impolite.

"Welcome to the team Slugling!" Thane greeted, and Slugling quickly stood at full attention. Thane quickly introduced the members of his new team, and their mission, the stones. Slugling didn't seem phased at all, instead, he nodded along with a neutral face. He was ready to do anything, the fire in his eyes was obvious. Embit had beaten him in combat, and Thane didn't hesitate to protect his partner during their battle. They had won his respect and therefore, Slugling was bound by duty. He could only hope that the other two would also win his respect, though.

So while Slugling got settled in, Thane started dinner. While waiting for the water to boil, Thane scrolled through the Loomipedia, wondering if any of his Loomians were close to learning a new move. Embit was close to learning Hop Kick. Thane turned to Embit to see him and Slugling already wrapped up in training. They took turns attacking a large rock, Embit with Ear Slap and Singe, and Slugling with Petal Pummel and his vines. Thane was confident those two would get along just fine. He was just as confident that Embit would learn Hop Kick quickly, and without his help. He then turned to Geklow and Twittle who were lounging about. Those two weren't as driven as Embit, and now Slugling, but he was glad that they were all working as a proper team now. He looked down at the Loomipedia. Geklow was close to learning Taze, and Twittle Air Whip.
