Versus the Disgrace

After the submarine and fight with Cephalops, Mabel was dead on her feet. She wanted nothing more than to get to the rental and collapse into sleep. Everything else could wait until later. Fortunately, and unfortunately for her, she got her wish. When she and Lucy returned from their day out, they both collapsed. Mabel took the couch with Starla snuggling up next to her.

Every living soul in that house was asleep. Metronette could try to go for the one with metal eyes again, but it decided against it. Instead, it decided on a different prey for today. The redheaded one seemed like the weakest link. Easy pickings before it could start on the other, stronger ones, especially the raven-haired boy. He would be the last to fall.

Before Metronette was confident enough to make its move, it looked around. It had to make sure the pesky spirit type wasn't there to mess everything up like last time. Metronette wasn't sure that Whispup wasn't watching, but it decided to pounce anyway.

Slipping from a dark corner of the living room, Metronette floated down to Mabel's sleeping face. The clothed black jaw unhinged itself, and pink energy began to fly out of Mabel's nostrils and into Metronette's open jaw. Just like Thane, Mabel started to convulse almost as if she were suffering from a seizure.

Metronette could feel it. The vitality drained out of the girl, and turned into energy for it. Mabel's body started to shake even more violently, and her friends were completely unaware. Suddenly, before Metronette could finish, a quick tackle sent it, and Whispup tumbling through the air. Metronette let out a low growl. Not again! Before he could strike back, however, Mabel began to stir and groan.

Both Loomians froze mid-charge and silently stared as Mabel rose from her slumber. She groaned and clutched her head tightly as she sat up. By the time she forced her eyes open, Metronette and Whispup had disappeared, and Mabel was none the wiser. She groaned and clutched her head. A sudden headache had come on.

With her hands on her knees, she stood up, careful not to wake Starla. Mabel looked herself over. She was still bleeding from the chase underwater. Maybe she should get to tending to those now. Walking to the bathroom, Mabel began to tend to her scrapes. She had no idea of what had just happened, that POLUT Corp and the stones weren't the only things they should be worried about.

When everyone awoke a few hours later, all they wanted to do was relax some more. Jake quickly put a stop to that. They had paused in their journey to train. And Jake was going to make sure that was what they were going to do. Jake had dragged everyone through the motions and out the door. Then, the group had to search the resort for an open clearing large enough to train. It had taken them past the docks and near the tunnel that led to Sepharite City.

Once everyone got situated, Jake gathered everyone to detail the training plan. "Okay, guys. I'm going to help Mabel with Starla," Mabel tried to hide her smile and Lucy had a glint in her eyes. Jake then pointed at the twins. "You two are going to team up on Thane." Thane tried to protest, but Jake continued. "Since Thane is the only one with the ability to send the stones back to his parents, he's going to be the one who is constantly going to be in the line of fire. So have your Loomians attack him. Keep him on his toes. A strong team is nothing without a strong trainer." He clapped his hands. "We'll all swap after a while."

Thane had tried to protest being used as target practice, but it seemed the decision was already set in stone. "Come on guys." He groaned as he stood in front of Lucas and his Burroach, and Lucy and her Whimpor. In his hands, he held the kusari-fundo Hayato had given him. In his left ear, the Via earbud rested. "This will do you good!" Lucy teased. On the sidelines, Thane's team watched with unnatural amusement.

"Burroach, Mud Splatter!" Lucas cried. Burroach fired four spheres of condensed mud at Thane. "Now, go left!" Via shouted. Thane felt his feet slide across the grass as he dodged the first sphere. The next black sphere that came flying at him was deflected by a swing of the chain. He ducked to avoid the next one. Finally, he managed to barely tuck and roll out of the way of the final sphere.
