Molly loved the winter for its snow and right now they were getting hit with another storm. She sat back on her bed and slightly watched white flakes fall outside her window.

Her classes for the day were already canceled late last night, and this morning, her classes for tomorrow were also canceled. There were still assignments she had to complete, but there was no class she had to sit through. A small change in a routine was, at times, appreciated.

Molly fell into a trance from the white specks until a notification on her phone snatched her attention. She picked it up from her nightstand and read Nick's name across the screen.

Nick: Come over as soon as you can. . .

Molly: Urgent??

Nick: Very

Molly: Coming

Molly knew it wasn't anything actually urgent or else he would have called; nonetheless, she hurried.

Opening the door, she saw the snow coming down faster and in bigger flakes. Stepping outside, she felt the cold stiffen her face. Walking down the street, she heard the snow crunch with each step of the way.

As she reached his driveway, she could smell and see the smoke from the fireplace. Quickening her pace, she ran up the front porch steps and she started kicking off her boots as she opened the door. She ran across the carpet in her socks and she fell onto the couch.

She heard Nick's chuckle. She looked up and met his eyes. He was standing in the doorway, between the kitchen and living room, laughing at her behind his smile.

"I'm not getting up," she stated with an open smile as she removed her coat.

"I didn't ask you to," he raised his hands in defense. "I actually want you to-."

"Molly, close your eyes!" Sammy yelled from the kitchen.

"Good morning Sammy", she answered back, her ears slightly ringing. "They're closed."

"Breakfast is served." Molly opened her eyes to see Sammy with a plant that had two homemade chocolate chip pancakes on it.

"Oh my goodness," Molly gasped at her rare but favorite breakfast. "Thank you." Molly brought Sammy onto her lap to give her a kiss and a tight hug. She then looked up at Nick and mouthed thank you.

He winked at her and went back into the kitchen to bring the rest of the pancakes for everyone.

Over breakfast, a card game was played on the carpet between Sammy, Dan, and Nick. Molly sat alone on the couch until Nick lost, unintentionally. He then took the spot next to his friend and reached for the last pancake. Splitting it in half, he gave her what he thought to be the bigger piece.

"I won!" Sammy shouted.

"I almost beat you," Dan said, pretending to make a mad face.

"Sammy, a little quieter," Nick interrupted in a calm tone.

Sammy stood up and widened her eyes. "I want to go outside and play."

"Go get ready, and I'll go outside with you," Dan told her.
