Her heavy eyes shot open at the sound of her ringtone. She shifted on the bed, reached her phone sitting on the nightstand, and silenced it. A puzzled expression crossed her face as she flipped it over and read the caller ID.

Scooting off the bed, she picked up in a whisper. "Hey."

"Hey, how are you doing?"

She saw Nick shift under the covers but remained asleep.

"I'm good," she answered quieter. "What's up with you?"

He half-laughed. "I'm not the one who got hit in the face last night." He cleared his throat. "Just wanted to call and check up on you."

"Thanks, Charlie. But I'm fine," she said as she snatched a towel folded in Nick's closet and headed to the bathroom. "What time is it?"

"After seven."

"Jeez, why are you up so early."

"My grandmother has me coming to meet her for breakfast."

Molly put the phone on speaker while she undressed to get into the shower.

"That sounds like fun," she said.

"Yes. I'm sure I'll have a swell time."

"What's your problem?" she asked, referring to his sarcastic tone.

"I like my freedom. I don't like it when an invitation is mandatory."

She couldn't relate and told him so.

"Don't worry about it." He sighed. "Call me if I can bring you some ice cream or something."

She examined the swollen part of her face colored in purple. "I'd love ice cream," she teased him.

"What flavor?"

"I'm kidding. Go try and enjoy your breakfast with your grandmother."

He briefly thanked her and ended the conversation. Molly was glad, having been standing naked in the cold bathroom for too long.

Twenty minutes later, Nick woke up in an empty bed. He saw that the bathroom door was closed though and figured she was in it. He stretched and rolled to his side.

The door handle turned a few seconds later and she came out wrapped in a towel.

"You're up," she smiled but her arms held the towel tighter in surprise.

He subtly looked her up and down. "I am. You showered."

"Yeah, you don't mind, do you?"

He smiled gently. "Not at all."

"Okay." She looked around the room with furrowed eyebrows. "I'm just realizing I have nothing to change into though," she half-laughed. "I'm just going to put the sweats back on," she said as she walked back toward the bathroom.

Nick said something she didn't quite hear.

She turned. "Hmm?"

"You wear the towel well." He continued with a wide grin, "In case you were curious or something, love."

She smothered her smile. "Thank you."

His eyes brightened, but he answered back as seriously as she did. "You're welcome."

"I'm going to go get dressed now," she said softly.

"Okay."

"Okay," she slightly nodded her head and stepped into the bathroom. About to shut the door, she heard his laughter. She joined in but only after the door closed between them.
