A/N: Hey guys! This is the first story I've decided to post on Wattpad :)

There are so many stories on this platform, I'm not sure how you found mine... But I'm obviously completely happy that you did!

I contemplated this first upload for quite some time. However, I must say, I am content with my decision.

Your thoughts are welcomed (and are exciting to read) <3

I sincerely hope this story of mine means nearly as much to you as it does to me.

All the best!

Nick walked into the house exhausted from a long day at work. He usually had the weekends off, but this Saturday he had to go in.

He took off his jacket and hung it up in the closet. He continued into the living room and saw a purple jacket lying on the arm of the couch with a pair of sneakers on the floor beside it. A day at the park, he thought.

He grabbed them, hung the jacket up next to his own, and put the small shoes on the floor of the closet. He shook his head lightly; no matter how many times he reminded her to put her stuff away, she always forgot.

"Ni-i-ick!"

Five-year-old Sammy came running out of the kitchen. She jumped into Nick's arms, and he gave her a tight squeeze.

"Hey, little Sammers." He tickled her, and she giggled. "Where's Dan?"

"In the kitchen, making a surprise!" she said with a smile that showed the two front baby teeth she had lost.

"Yeah?"

She nodded with a still very present smile. He kissed her on the forehead and walked into the kitchen with her still in his arms.

Dan, though very engrossed in the dessert he was preparing, looked up. "Sammy, I am the one working hard to make you this surprise dessert and Nick is the one getting the hug? What does a brother have to do to get a hug?"

With that said, Sammy laughed, slid down from Nick, and hugged Dan's legs.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome," she said as she squeezed tighter.

Dan looked over at his older brother. "How was work? You guys finish gutting the house?"

"No, not yet," Nick answered as he casually leaned against the counter. He was tired and wanted nothing more than to shower and sleep but he wasn't complaining. When he took weekend jobs, he got a bonus which meant he'd have a little extra money this month.

"You look beat."

"Nah," he lied. "I just need to take a quick shower. Need help with anything before I go?"

"Nope. Dinner will be ready in about thirty minutes.".

"Thanks, kid. I appreciate it."

Nick was about to leave the kitchen when Dan called him back in. "Wait, I forgot to tell you that I got the job at the library center for Saturdays."

Nick turned back around. "Dan, I want you to focus on school. If you have free time, relax and be a kid. If you need money, just ask," he said softly. "Plus, you help me by watching Sammy the times I have to work."

"I know I could ask you, but I want some money of my own saved up. Besides, I already spoke to Molly and she said she'd gladly watch Sammy."

"You already brought Molly into the picture?" Nick looked at his sixteen-year-old brother who wasn't so little anymore. "Let me think about it, kid," he said and headed for the shower.
