"Help!" I hear a man scream in the distance, making me jump up from the box I was looking in and run towards the voice, away from the campsite. Everyone else quickly follows after me.
The screams for help continue and I jump over fallen trees and run through bushes, following the sounds of the man's voice. I stop at a clearing and halt when the yelling stops. I whip around, seeing everybody stop as well.
"It seemed like it was coming from around here, didn't it?" Hailey asks. I look at Sam in confusion.
"Everybody back to camp." He orders. I'm quick on my feet back to the campsite and I look around even more confused when I see all our stuff is missing.
"Our packs!" Hailey exclaims from behind me.
"So much for my GPS and satellite phone." Roy says with a defeated tone.
"What the hells going on?" Hailey asks us.
"It's smart, it wants to cut us off so we can't call for help." Sam puts his hands on his hips.
"It's fast and it's smart? Just perfect." I mutter, throwing my hands up and letting them smack against my thighs.
"You mean someone... some nut job out there just stole all our gear." Roy corrects, or at least he thinks he does. I try to stand next to him, but Sam yanks me back towards him and forms a small huddle between himself, Dean, and I.
"I need to speak to you both...in private." He sounds irritated, quickly walking off.
"It's only getting worse." I tell Dean, hinting at Sam's behavior.
"I know." He sighs, walking off to follow Sam. I look at the group to make sure they're okay before following Dean.
When Sam thinks we've made it a safe distance away, he turns to us.
"Okay, let me see dad's journal." He demands, holding his hand out. Dean doesn't say anything and just reaches into his jacket pocket, pulling out the journal. He hands it over to Sam, who quickly flips through the pages until finally finding what he was looking for. "Alright. Check that out." He turns the book towards us. My eyes widen when I see the first line.
"Oh, come on." Dean chuckles.
"You can't be serious." I start to say.
"Wendigos are in the Minnesota woods, o-or Northern Michigan. I've never even heard of one this far west." Dean explains why it makes no sense. Sam looks away a moment.
"Think about it guys...the claws, the way it can mimic a human voice." Sam points out, looking back at us with an expecting look.
"Great. Well, then this is useless." Dean gestures to his gun. I run a hand through my hair when Sam turns around and leaves.
"These people are in danger. We gotta get them outta these woods, and back home, now." I tell him, turning around as well and heading back, once again, to the campsite.
"Alright, listen up. It's time to go." Sam says from in front of me once we are back with everyone else.
"Things have gotten too complicated." I add, sounding dull. I stop next to Hailey and her brother.
"What?" She asks, looking between the three of us.
"The thing that's out there...it's dangerous. So you people need to get out of these woods, now." I tell her sternly.
