"That one's my favorite." I laugh, pointing at the photo in Dean's hand. It was a picture of Dean reading some kind of picture book to Sam and I in Sam's nursery. The three of us were wearing matching red plaid pajamas which makes me only assume it was around Christmas time that this photo was taken. The thing was...the book was upside down, and you can tell Dean was trying really hard to read the upside down words.
"Thanks for these." Dean smiles at Jenny and she does the same.
"Don't thank me. They're yours." She said. I smile at her in thanks anyways. For only the second time this entire trip, I allow myself to take a glance at my old house. "You two lived across from each other?" Jenny asks hesitantly. I look at her and nod with a sad smile.
"Yeah, long time ago."
"Well, I'm not sure if they'll let you fight off the paranormal in their home, but..." I chuckle at her statement. "I'm sure they'll invite you in like I did. The people around here are nice, from what I've experienced so far at least." She gives me a tiny smile. I nod.
"Yeah, maybe one day. I think I've had a good amount of activity for the week though." I chuckle, gesturing to the stab wound that had been rewrapped this morning.
"Right." She winces, imagining the pain.
"Sam, you ready?" Dean calls. Sam nods over at us, getting up.
"It was nice meeting you, Jenny." I tell her genuinely.
"Likewise." She smiles. Dean and her exchange a small goodbye before she leaves us.
"You sure you don't want to stop in?" Dean asks as he makes his way over to the drivers side. I stop on the passenger's side and look ahead at the house.
"Definitely." I answer.
"Don't you boys be strangers. You either, young lady." I look back at Missouri and smile.
"We won't." I assure her. She looks satisfied with my answer.
"See you around."
We pile into the car and take one last long look at our old lives before leaving the neighborhood. I ponder for the next five minutes on what I should do, torn between stopping by or just leaving and not knowing when I'll be back again. I start to worry because we are only getting farther and farther away from Lawrence.
"Can we stop somewhere?" I blurt out suddenly. Dean stops at a red light and looks at me.
"Where?"
"Somewhere."
"Why?"
"Because."
"Nope." Dean drives again once the light turns green. I groan at his annoyingness.
"Stull Cemetery." I mutter.
"What?"
"I want to go to Stull Cemetery to see my family." He stops at another light and looks at me as if asking whether or not I was being serious. Only when I give him a stern look and the cars behind us start honking does he snap out of it and drive again, nodding.
"Yeah—I mean, sure, if that's what you want." I know he wants me to confirm it verbally so I sigh.
"It is." I look into the rearview mirror to meet Sam's burning gaze. His brows were furrowed to the point where he had a couple creases in his forehead as he looked at me questionably. After that, I speak only to give Dean the directions towards the cemetery.
