"Wanna tell me what's bothering you?" I asked, as we both sat down on the bed and I put my arm around her shoulder.

"I'm okay" she whispered.

"Then why won't you eat?"

She just shrugged.
She didn't wanna open up yet, so I just did what I thought was best to do.
I pulled her closer to me and hugged her.
She snuggled into me and buried her face in my chest.

"That Stacy lady is always happy" she muttered, after a few minutes.

"Huh?"

"Stacy. That's her name, right?"

"Yeah"

"She's always happy"

"Yeah, I know"

"It's like she can't take that smile off of her face. It's stuck with glue, or something"

"Why do you all of a sudden say this?"

"Dunno. Just thought about it. Don't her cheeks hurt?"

I was a little confused.
Why was she talking about this Stacy lady?
I thought about what she said, though, and she was right. From the moment Stacy came in, I've never seen her without a smile.

"Hi, you must be Stacy?" Peter asked, as a woman walked up to him. She had a big smile on her face.

"Yep. The one and only. I'm here for Amelia Adams?"

"Yeah. So, me and Demi here, are in charge of her case. We thought we'd tell you a little about her, before you meet her" he said.

"Okay. That's fine"

"So, she lost her parents and younger brother yesterday evening, in the shooting by the hospital" he started.

"Yeah, I heard about that" she piped in.

"Yeah, so she hasn't really talked, since she came here yesterday. She's taking it really hard. She thinks she has to be strong, so she doesn't wanna cry or anything. It's very sad" I said.

"Yeah, very sad. I feel so bad for her" she said, still with a huge smile on her face.

"So, you have a family for her?" I asked.

"Yeah, I do. This family with a six year old and a two month old girl. They said they'd like to take her in"

"But you do have to tell them that she doesn't talk"

"Oh, that's okay. I'm sure she'll grow over it, eventually"

"So, you're not gonna tell them?"

"Not yet. Maybe I can get the girl to talk" she said, her smile getting even bigger then it already was.

You wish, lady.
Like she's gonna talk to you.

I remember thinking back then, if she ever didn't smile. But I didn't put too much thought to it. I had better things to do.
But now that Amelia mentioned it, she was right.
Why was she always happy?

"Does it bother you that she's always so happy?" I asked.

"Dunno" she mumbled, as she snuggled back into me.
We were silent for a few minutes and I felt her starting to breathe heavily.
She fell asleep.

I lay her down on the bed carefully, so I wouldn't wake her up, and walked out of the room, back downstairs, closing the door behind me.

"Where's Amelia?" Corey asked.

"She fell asleep, bubba"

"Is she okay?" Drake asked.

"She didn't tell me why she doesn't wanna eat, so I hope it's nothing. She just talked about Stacy"

"Stacy?"

"Yeah, her social worker"

"Is she good?"

"I guess. But she's always smiling. Amelia said that it looks like it's stuck with glue, or something" I chuckled.

"Doesn't it hurt her cheek to always smile? I mean, it's good to smile, but sometimes you gotta look serious too, right?" he laughed.

"Can I go to Amelia?" Corey asked.

"Not now, baba. She's sleeping. When she wakes up, you can go" Drake replied, "Let's finish your food now, okay? Want me or mommy to help you?"

"Nah, I'm fine. I can do it alone" he turned back to his plate.

"Is it only me, or does it feel like something's missing?" Drake asked, after a few minutes.
It was definitely not only him. I felt it, too.

"It's not only you, babe. I feel it, too"

"Amelia's missing" Corey replied.

"I guess you're right, bubba. She is missing"

And it was really like that.
It was very weird, but without Amelia, it felt like something was missing. Like we aren't completed.
