"So, how are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm good" she replied.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"

"Dunno. The family's okay?"

"Yeah. Ruby's better then I thought she'd be. She's not great, but she okay. Debby's a little which, though. She's so annoying. But I'm surviving, you know. It could be worse"

"Tell me a little about this whole therapist story"

"Stacy said that the therapist was gonna help me open up and talk to them, so she insisted that I go. We went two or three times, but it's useless. I'm not gonna tell a stranger what's going on in my head. I'm also not gonna draw it for her, or write it down"

"Will you tell me what's going on in your head? Like, what do you see?"

"Are you a therapist?" she joked, but I could see that she wasn't happy, at all.

"No, I'm just wondering"

"It's normal, I guess. Just like it's always been"

"You know you don't have to lie, right?"

"Why would I be lying?"

"Cause how can it be exactly the same, after all that has happened? Your life changed, Amelia. The picture in your head changed, too. Even the picture in my head changed and I've had way less changes in my life then you have. It's not wrong to see negative things in your head. It's normal"

She just looked at me with a distant look in her eyes.
She was thinking about what I just said, but wasn't sure if she should tell me or not.

"I'm fine" she finally replied.

"I know you're not. I'm not gonna force you to tell me, if you don't want to. I'm just saying that you don't have to be ashamed to tell someone. It's okay to feel sad or mad. There's no problem with that"

"You sound like a therapist"

"I'm just trying to help you"

"I'm not interested in people's help. I just wanna live my life without everyone's pity. I don't need that. I'm not a charity case. I'm a normal girl who live through a tragedy. If you only have me here out of pity, then I'll gladly leave" she spat, as tears started to form in her eyes and she ran upstairs.

Wow, I didn't not expect that. Maybe I went a little too far.
But I just had to. This morning when I took her to see Peter, he realized it, too.

"Good morning, Peter. I brought someone for you" I smiled, as I entered.

"Good morning, Demi. I thought you're taking off today"

"I am. I just came in to show you something. I'll be gone soon" I smiled, as Amelia walked in.

"Hey Amelia!" Peter smiled, as he hugged her, "I missed you"

"I missed you, too" she smiled back.

"How are you doing?"

"I'm good. You?"

"Yeah, me too. So, how's the new family?"

"They're okay"

"Start school yet?"

"Yeah, I did"

They continued talking, but I went to check something. When I came back Amelia wasn't here.

"Where's she?" I asked.

"Bathroom. What's wrong with her?"

"What do you mean?"

"Don't tell me you didn't see the sadness in her eyes. Her smile isn't real. You're really the person to see that in people"

"Yeah, I saw it, too. I haven't asked here yet, though"

"She's hurting, Demi" he said.

If even Peter could see it, it can't be my imagination. I mean, he's a guy. Guys don't see thinks like that so fast, but he did. And he isn't a very observant person, but he still saw it.

I didn't mean to hurt her. I just want her to allow herself to be sad and upset. I just want her to not bottle everything up. That's only gonna make it harder for her.
I'm not pitying her. I'm just trying to help. There a difference, but I guess I messed it up.
